Hello! For the past few months I’ve been running a character through all the expansions for Loremaster using Chromie Time. I spent a long while locked at level 60. After TWW’s official launch a few days ago, Chromie Time got extended up to level 70, so I’ve now made it all the way up to level 69 (nice).
However, I’m not sure what’s going to happen once I ding 70. I don’t own TWW and don’t plan to buy it until my character finishes Dragonflight, but it seems possible that at level 70 I’ll be forcibly removed from Chromie Time anyway, making pretty much all content except Dragonflight outdated and full of gray mobs that fall over in one hit.
Although Blizzard has said Chromie Time extends to level 70 now, I’m not sure if that means level 70 itself is included, and if I’ll still be able to switch timelines and use CT normally if I level up once more. A few months ago, I confirmed for myself that if you owned Dragonflight at the time, you could not use Chromie Time once you hit level 60 - but if you did not own DF, you could still use CT normally at 60. I’m wondering if the situation is similar for TWW.
So I’d appreciate someone checking for me, so that I don’t ding 70 and find my entire all-expansions-loremaster plan completely bricked.
I copied over my level 69 character onto the PTR to see what would happen once he leveled, but it appears the live realms actually have a more recent fix for Chromie Time, because even at level 69 on the PTR I couldn’t switch timelines as I can at 69 on retail.
Summary and TLDR - I would really appreciate if someone who has not upgraded to TWW could check for me, on retail servers, if a level 70 character can still speak to Chromie and swap around between timelines. Thank you!
Yeah, I remember back during the beginning of Dragonflight, I had to stay at 59 because hitting 60 would permanently remove me from Chromie Time. However at some point during DF, if you didn’t own DF yet, you could ding 60 and still use Chromie Time normally.
I’m wondering if anyone with a level 70 character who has yet to buy TWW could check this for me!
Blech! Did she have any dialogue options at all, or did she just talk about the Radiant Song? I remember during DF, there was a period where if you were level 60 she wouldn’t give you the option to pick a timeline unless you navigated through a bunch of her dialogue options first.
It just takes you to “I have another question” …at some point I had noticed that you had to dig for it, but I don’t remember exactly why I was looking for it in the first place.
Before TWW didn’t they raise the kick level to 61? At 60 you got the annoying forced quest on you, but you didn’t actually have to do it, and was forced out at 61, towards the end of DF. I thought. Maybe.
They changed it. After that you were able to “continue your adventure” until you reached level 61, and then were kicked out. I seem to recall that you could no longer change your chromie time expansion at level 60.
The end level of Chromie Time was weird throughout all of DF, and changed several times.
Early on, you would actually get kicked from Chromie time at 58 or 59! Chromie would pull you out, send you back to Stormwind, and then you’d have to talk to her again to go back in. And at 60, you’d get pulled out yet again, and this time there was no option to pick a timeline.
Then later on, they fixed this, so you were only pulled out at level 60. There was still no option to go back in.
Then there was that patch that said it extended Chromie Time to 61. After this, I think you STILL got pulled out at level 60, but if you went back to Chromie you could pick a timeline. The option to choose a timeline right after clicking her was gone, but if you went through her dialogue options, there was still a ‘backdoor’ way to get to the Choose a Timeline UI.
Then there was a patch that gave Dragonflight for free to everyone, so if you were level 60 in Chromie Time, once you hit level 61 you would get pulled out and not be able to get back in. At this time, you also couldn’t lock your XP with Bestehn or Slahtz in Stormwind and Orgrimmar, so essentially if you wanted to stay at 60 in Chromie Time you had to stop playing that character.
Then they fixed it so you could lock XP at 60.
And now finally Chromie Time has been extended to level 70, but it appears that level 69 is the last level where you can exit, re-enter, or switch timelines even if you don’t have The War Within on your account.
