I’m curious. Let’s say in the other timeline, the devs put up a poll to the Shaman community offering us to pick one:
- Rework Enh to allow either DW or 2h
- Tank spec

Tank spec. I want to tank on my shaman I lived 2h Enhancement and I am ok with it, that being said Enhancement imo popped off when it went to dw. Getting a tank spec so I can tank on my favorite class is what I want.

Feel like 2H enhance would win even if it no better or worse than dual wield. Don’t get me wrong I like my big 2H weapons too but I’d never trade that for tank spec.

i did… meaning whatever it takes- if the only way i can 2H is by tanking, then so be it, but of course 2H dps would be preferred.
I thought you wanted 2h tanking. While my selections were 2h dps or tanking. Not both. Sorry for the confusion.
As much as I long for 2H enh, I’d pick tanking, because I do like tanking, but I only have time to invest in one character, and that character is going to be my shaman

2 hand ench. Periodt.
Great thing with this new talent system is that there’s room for both. They should just add then to the shaman class tree. At the very least add 2h as a option in ench’s spec tree.

it meant if the only way enh would get 2H back is if it meant me tanking tomorrow on my shaman just to use 2H, i’d do it… so naturally this would mean dps > tanking, but it doesn’t matter as long as we can.
I would absolutely pick tanking - not only do I love tanking in general, but I think it makes sense thematically with shamans… Also, we don’t have a mail-wearing tank yet.
But given the new talent trees, I really don’t think it would be a stretch to implement both. 2H would obviously be easier to implement

I’d pick tank spec personally, I prefer DW enhance and also lived through the 2H era in real vanilla
It wasn’t as fun as people seem to think it was, once in a blue moon you would delete someone with a triple WF but that was very few and far between

As much as people here say shaman tank makes sense, it really doesn’t. The idea is very surface level but doesn’t really take into consideration what shamanism is in the context of Warcraft.
Shamans are, at their core, a caster class. The only reason enh exists is to be like Thrall. They are a spiritual leader. They don’t control the elements, they simply request their assistance. A tank spec that were to say “use the earth to make you tankier” is requesting that the elements “take this damage instead of me” and a shaman would never look to cause harm to the elements.
The only way this could work would be if you were to make a dark shaman spec but they are the bad guys and could not fit into to baseline identity of a shaman.

We literally already have an ability where we ask the earth to take damage instead of us (and a bunch of our group members too) in earthen wall totem…
