If you could have your own private WoW server legally, would you?

Only with Blizzard blessing. F2P or for a regular sub price.

Any expansion - dont care if its Vanilla / Classic or SL

Maybe have bots to run dungeons and / or raids with or just you an maybe a friend.

No selling boosts, gifts any kinda GM buff.

Just a place to play away form the rest of the WoW community.

I would LOVE a server where my only my 2 kids and I could access and add in NPCs so we could do dungeons

I think it would get boring rather quickly. While there are certainly some good sides to not having to deal with the toxic community, an MMO kind of needs to have other people to play with.

Having played FFXIV quite a bit and dealing with their “Trust” dungeons (NPC party members), I can say that it gets old pretty quick. Those NPCs aren’t very good, and while they do mechanics perfectly (most of the time), their DPS is generally horrible and the dungeon goes very slow.

To play through once? Sure. To play long-term? Probably not.

Not if I have to deal with 18 years of code

They won’t double-pull or aoe, makes me angry.

Hmmm, what is a king without subjects? A god without followers?

Nay sir, I think I shall pass…

Tried that in the past long ago before they transferred the forums to these new ones.

It was neat to play with gm commands and see gm island. After about 30 minutes it got old though.

Even though i typically solo content and join pugs, the game is still more fun with strangers.

Exactly… I find myself usually having to pull the extra packs. At least the tank usually picks them up when I do that.

… wait a second, those have made me into the thing I hate most about DPS in WoW groups…

I have incredibly specific reasons for wanting it I realize almost no one else would understand.

Like I said the EQ server I was running was a blast but my son really is only at home in WoW and since we play together…

Edit - I honestly only play with my kids unless I queue for a leveling dungeon. Since I mostly level new characters, it fits me (in addition to the other issues)

LOL you really dont have to. THe EQemu servers are open source and have it distilled down into a neat little package. While you can create whole new zones, add all kinds of NPOCs, change just about anything I was happy with the base setup - I just messed around with the database and was able to make all kinds of changes there. From expansions to mercs, to weapon drops to class race combos

This is interesting! Thanks for sharing. It would be fun if Blizz releases something like this officially to allow for mods or custom content like back in the battle net custom map days.

yes. with blackjack. and [redacted]

aaaah, forget the server.

If you really are interested:

You can even open these up to the internet if you want people who live away from you to be able to join.

I can’t relate at all to the need for such a thing, and I’m a solo player by nature. Actually, that might be why I don’t see a need. I do just fine playing by myself (or occasionally with my real life friends) on the game as it is.

Godmode server is not fun, tried it before, it gets old fast.

Rules are what made game fun, this is true for IRL sports as well.

Even when playing solo, it’s nice to be in a game where others exist, imo. It almost makes it feels a bit more important than a single player game.

IMHO it makes it feel more “alive”.

Honestly wasnt looking for godmode server. More about playing alone in a persistent world

Only god mode was the ability to maybe delete Achievment history or allow acounts to be deleted and remade. Weird I know but its really unique issues

And this is mostly why I haven’t played a single player game since Diablo 2.

However, there are also other reasons so I am kinda in the middle

As a pretty much a solo player, I can’t say if it would be something I would stick with or not. But I would at least try it. Just to see where I stand with it.
