If you could do a Raid with just your Warband

Would you take the time to level and gear enough Warband members to do the Raid?

Or have Sync’d Raids with your Warband?

If this ever becomes possible (clearing a raid ‘solo’ with an AI group), I’d probably do it like that. Even as a solo player though, I don’t think I’d want rewards to go any higher than LFR at most. If they did, they’d have to be more challenging which seems harder to factor around AI.

Also, they’d have to be like the follower dungeons currently on PTR, where if you die, the encounter immediately resets. No tanking the floor while AI beats the encounters for you!

I would never do raids with AI. One of my favorite aspect of raiding is playing with real people, no matter how toxic or negative the experience could be.

not raid but i can see them do it with delves

I’d still do LFR if I wanted to see raid content. I don’t need everything to be solo content, I just need decent solo content.

I just haven’t found time to do LFR yet, but I plan on it.

My warband wouldn’t get anything done. They’d all be swapblasting each other on cooldown and trying to kill other members of the warband. I can’t think of a more toxic raiding experience.

Was disappointed when they announced delves done with a seasonal NPC and not with your warband.

But maybe in like 11.1 or something they’ll allow us to have a seasonal NPC and a warband NPC or two?

That’d be sick.

Do Warbands consist of your alts or are they NPC followers, like those from the mission tables?

If it’s the former, than I don’t even have that many alts to do a raid with them.

I think a large enough portion of the playerbase already has an alt army where leveling them up specifically for the Warband would just be a “something I was already doing anyways” kind of deal.

I know a lot of attention for the AI and Warband stuff is focused on Solo, but a lot of people are overlooking the potential it has to fill in unexpected holes for the rosters of established raiding or M+ guilds. You now no longer have to worry about pugging someone who could potentially ninja a drop your healer needs, or sitting and waiting for someone who doesn’t mind getting locked out of half the bosses in a raid.

Or let’s just say you want a relaxing online date night with your Significant Other. They log on their tank, you log on your heals, and then slot in 3 AI dps so you can enjoy the company of your loved ones.

There are more pros than cons in pushing things in this direction, both for the majority of players and from the business aspect. It keeps more people logged in for longer periods, and steers a lot of people away from the number one reason people actually quit playing.

Raiding with a group of my own characters would be awesome. Even doing a dungeon that way would be great. I would need to respec a few into tanks and healers but just imagine, every drop would be a potential win.

One big ‘con’ here is dependent on how such a thing is implemented, if it ever is. If the AI is too good, then it incentivizes using them over actual players and makes group raiding even more insular than it already is. If the AI is bad, then it becomes a question of why even bother having it in the first place? Poor performance is often a liability in raids (especially when it comes to mechanics), to the point where it’d be better to just run with one fewer body than to try carrying them. It’s a balance that, the more I think of it, wouldn’t be possible to achieve even if Blizzard wanted to do it.

Raid no, I’m too lazy to level that many toons lol.

If they allowed 5 of my characters to run a M+ (like me and 4 of my alts filling other roles), i’d do that in a heartbeat.

It’d kind of be an interesting system where you could do 10 man raids and your group is based off your warband so you get to the point where you can identify weak spots in your warband and focus on gearing them up.

I feel like that’s too many variables to try to manage between specs, talents, gear, etc for most people to really enjoy though.

If the AI is trainable similar to Bing, OpenAI, or Midjourney, then these companions will be as good or bad as the player which is using them. And it very well could be a possibility in the future that it will be trainable, considering we’re now under the M$ umbrella.

Is it always the same person regardless of if you need them to be tanky or healy? Or do they even do that?

Most likely a wipe , cause most of them are not even max level :stuck_out_tongue:

From what Metzen was saying, it seemed like we could configure Brann Bronzebeard to be whatever we need him to be.

I’m expecting a Box Of Many Things style talent tree (hopefully not nearly as miserable to progress though) for him and future npcs.

I don’t want robots playing my characters. What I want is to dungeon/raid with AI steering my many followers from the many mission tables of yore!

I would love this. It’s what I’ve wanted ever since Warlords when I thought it would be fun to have my alts hanging out in my garrison.

No.

I prefer to do my group content with a group of people.
