That’s kind of what I suggested too. Dark Rangers are closer to Rogue/Warlocks than Hunters.
I think Druid has enough specs already.
Heal Spec!
Eye Beam: AOE heal
Immolation Aura: AOE heal
Throw glaive: heal each target it bounces to (like Prayer of Mending)
Sigil of Flame: Re-tuned to Sigil of Healing
Fel Rush/Infernal Strike: Heal each target affected
Meta: Increase healing done by each of the above
How about instead of transforming into a demon the warlock summons a full blown actual pit lord (not the little baby one in game now) and control it and its spells like a vehicle?
Meh too complicated.
Old demo as a fourth lock spec, old survival as a fourth hunter spec and tanks for shaman.
I guess the popular one would be Blademaster, though that’s basically the antique version of Arms. The flip side would be Berserker, which is just a more hardcore Fury spec.
If I could add to Warrior, I’d want something completely different. Maybe a class-bending spec that incorporates other things from the world. But quite honestly, idk what that would be
For the Death Knight, I would create the Necromancer, a ranged caster wearing plate.
A tank dracthyr. Build like the druid bear. Iron scales, bleeds that are magic based, etc.
i would create a new dh spec that was all about the demon form. you would permanetly be in it.
Havoc would move to more of the “actual” demon hunter vibe to it. so like an assassin type. not stealthy persay.
and the new demon spec would have a brute vibe to it.
Fury Warrior playstyle for Druid.
Combat Rogue.
We’re friends now. If you quote The Interview, we’re friends.
As a druid, do we really need a 5th spec?
yes, why yes we do.
its a Mega Range damage spec. (100 yard range) it does damage from flight form.
Passive ability, use flight form in doors. in zones with no flying. it can shoot lightning.
it ah… works like dragon riding but slower. so 140 movement speed.
it can cast while moving.
it can avoid most ground effects so to compensate for that OP power, its armor is only 1 to 1 in value. like a 415 version of this flying damage spec would have 10% armor value.
it can heal to full by landing and clicking roost. an ability that lets you sleep and heal as if rested and out of combat even while in combat. so mana regens faster too.
it can do melee attacks in the air with other birb dps players and they can lock claws and spiral to the ground for fall damage. last one on bottom takes the damage. unless the cancel the channel before hitting the ground.
- Gladiator spec for Warrior.
- MSurv for DH.
- Rsurv for Hunter in place of MSurv.
- Earth tank spec for Shaman, uses 2h =)
- A real DPS spec for Paladins.
My Picks
- Death Knight - Necromancer - Caster DPS
- Demon Hunter - ??? - Melee/Ranged/Caster Hybrid DPS
- Druid - (already has 4 specs)
- Evoker - Fortification - Tank
- Hunter - Warden - Tank
- Mage - Battle - Melee DPS
- Monk - Pathfinder - Caster DPS
- Paladin - Inquisition - Caster DPS
- Priest - Vessel - Melee DPS
- Rogue - Tactician - Ranged DPS
- Shaman - Guardian - Tank
- Warlock - Sanguine - Tank
- Warrior - Tactician - Ranged DPS
Explanations
The idea is to introduce a new play-style that isn’t currently available for each class, rather than simply introducing a new flavor of what can already be done. This would help provide merit for the creation of the new spec in the first place.
Here are some additional descriptors I had in mind, for those interested:
- The minion-oriented focus of Unholy Death Knight would have to shift into the Necromancer Death Knight. Unholy Death Knight could then refocus on shadow/death/disease themed abilities (which I personally think is a better thematic fit for the spec) and Necromancer would be entirely centered around its minions (even more-so than Demonology).
- Although I’d want to introduce a Ranged DPS or Caster DPS option for Demon Hunter, I’m not sure what direction to go thematically without entirely overlapping the Warlock class, and simply throwing a lot of glaives feels too much like a 1-trick pony. Though, perhaps there’s significant opportunity for a ranged/melee hybrid considering the class’s baseline mobility.
- Evoker’s “Fortification” could easily be called “Earth Warder” or “Warden”, but considering the existing two spec names (“Devastation” and “Preservation”), the name “Fortification” felt more fitting. It also avoids too much thematic confusion with names that could fit Hunter or Shaman tanks as well.
- The “Warden” unit has existed in Warcraft lore for quite some time, though has never been directly playable. It could still have a pet, but would require a passive wherein all of the pet’s threat is permanently transferred to the hunter/warden instead. Tanking through the pet itself would just be janky.
- There are already “battle mages” in WoW. Thematically, this would just be in line with that.
- There are already ranged DPS caster monks in WoW. There are even 4 celestials to base the 4 specs around (Crane would be healing, Serpent would be caster DPS… just like the legendary cloaks from MoP suggest).
- Paladins have potential to fit in a holy-themed caster DPS spec. It wouldn’t be too far of a stretch either considering previous iterations of holy paladins having spammable ranged DPS moves.
- Historically, Priests stick to the Light or the Void/Shadow within the WoW universe, though they could theoretically worship other cosmic forces as well. However, other classes already exist which fit the prospective “priestly” (caster) representation of other cosmic forces: Fel (Warlock), Order (Mage), Life (Druid), Death (Death Knight, sort of). So, it makes more sense to introduce a Priest spec which thematically allows itself to be “possessed” (or infused) with beings/powers from the source it worships, augmenting its physical capabilities and allowing it to fight in melee.
- Rogue Tactician - Similar to a hunter in many ways, minus the pet and a significantly greater focus on traps, gadgets, and devices (for active DPS, not just CC and such). Could also fit the slot for the “Tinker” class fantasy. Also fits the “stealthy sniper” class fantasy.
- Shaman Guardian - A long-time-coming earth-themed shaman tank. I don’t know why this hasn’t been a thing in WoW. I would main Shaman in a heartbeat if this existed.
- Warlock Sanguine - Though Warlock’s thematically are often associated with demons and the Fel, there’s no reason they can’t branch out to other sources of questionable power. Having a “demon form tanking spec” bleeds too much into what Demon Hunters already offer, and the Sanguinar are an relatively untapped source of lore and thematic gameplay within the WoW universe. It makes sense that Warlocks would want to explore it, though it’s possible there could be too much bleed-over with Blood Death Knights.
- Tactician Warrior - Effectively a “throwing barbarian” mixed with a “banner warrior”.
Honestly anything beats current judgement animation. Hammer of Wrath was more than enough hammer throwing. I just want my magical abilities back instead of all this weapon summoning.
