If you could bring in any writer as a consultant for WoW, who?

You get the chance to bring on any writer you want to be a consultant for WoW and the future of it’s story/lore. No matter who it is, as long as they are alive, they will accept your offer.

Who would you bring on board?

*picking George R. R. Martin adds another 5 years to the next GoT book’s release date :slightly_smiling_face:

The problem isn’t the writers, it’s decision makers. Take Tyrande’s judgement of Sylvannas in this last patch.

She walked around her in a “seething rage” like it was some awful Michael Bay film. The people calling shots don’t understand this is high-school writing. Because the situation and the emotion make it seem like Tyrande wants to do far worse, but she’s not. Why? Never explained.

Basic crap like that, needing to be told to adults, is not a talent/experience issue. It’s an ego issue.

She’s passed away now but if she wasn’t i’d want Ayn Rand. Dagny Taggart and the other main characters of Atlas Shrugged are some of the best characters i’ve ever had the pleasure of reading

The couple that writes the Dragonlance series would also be very solid imo

Chris metzen and he has full controll of the lore and able to retcon all the trash the activision apointed writters made out of the story

The writing team imo is okay. i know that doesn’t sound good. I’m blaming rushed stories with skipped content and having to read books now which shouldn’t be the case.

where when how and with what weapons in wow howabout go mok’gora style ?

I realize I forgot to put my choice.
I think it would be a toss up between R.A. Salvatore and Paul S. Kemp.
Their D&D stuff is a lot of fun to read.
Tough to pick so I did a /roll for it and I’ll go with Kemp.

First pick, J. R. R. Tolkien.

Second, likely his son.

Third? Elizabeth Hayden. Maybe a stretch, however her own stories thus far have proven interesting.

You figure out resurrection, and we’ll go from there. The rest are minor wrinkles after that.

Whatever vile being wrote Ethan Frome so people that think WoW’s writing is bad now can see what truly atrocious writing is like.

We’ll there would be two, Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman. The indelible mark they left on the fantasy genre cannot be disputed.

Actually Joe Abercrombie. You want a morally grey story? His stories dont really have any heroes just lesser villians.

Need someone with a surrealist or absurdist bent to make this mess a fun and interesting mess…

I’d go with Robert Anton Wilson. Illuminatus! Has just the right blend of wackiness to energize a discordant story like this.
