The people who complain are usually the same ones that don’t peel. It should be uncommon enough that you can laugh it off when it happens but every once in a while you get that team of PvE dps who queue without a healer you get stuck with who don’t realize that teaming up isn’t auto win since they’re usually facing another team and are looking for someone to blame but that’s a rarity (but it does happen).
Yes. If you complain about a healer, you need to roll a healer and see what it is like. But, I’m afraid, that even if they did they would not have empathy.
99% of the time, I am where I’m supposed to be as a healer and I always try to produce the best heals… but someone always has to say something.
Whenever I heal I think “it’s hard to heal trash” because they die so quick.
Or maybe I’m just a bad healer. Lol that’s why I mostly DPS and help with chat.
Over 50% of healing BGs is just healing yourself in my experience. It can get higher, I’ve taken up to 2/3 the total damage taken by my team in the BG (maybe more, I don’t always look). I figure you’re kind of healing other people when it gets like that by serving as a damage sponge.
Don’t let it get you down. Healing is a much more demanding role 90% of the time but you can influence the BG in ways you cannot when you dps.
What kind of complaints are you referring to?
I am uncertain what complaints any would have with a healer unless they are afk in the bg.
AS a healer, I will say that it has been a rather frustrating evolution over the years watching the level of organization alliance display… to be surrounded by utter buffoons on the Horde side.
First, the complaint was “why do alliance always win??”. Welp… that’s easy to answer. They had healers on their team, we had a full crew of beefy guys with two handed swords waiting for them.
Finally when Horde realized hey… perhaps we should get some healers… years for that light bulb to go off… when I enter a BG I watch ANYONE attacking an alliance healer get targeted by locks… hunters… mages… DKs. No free kills on ally healers. A thing of beauty.
What do horde healers get? The entire alliance team could focus our healer and not a soul on horde side even takes note. I think we are actually invisible.
Teamwork makes the dream work guys! I think we’re finally getting up to speed with where alliance players were two years back.
In WoD horde was at a disadvantage in BGs. I think there was a belief that EMFH was OP and stone skin is great for a healer. I remember I hardly ever saw another healer on our team and they seemed to really try to make healing uncomfortable. It took some time to recover.
I was healing one a couple of months ago where we had 2 healers and they were really complaining, I just assumed it was the other healer but maybe me too. It was dumb, really, I healed more than the top 2 dps total damage combined. It really seemed to upset the other healer who was getting pounded by the other team leaving me to free cast which is why I was able to heal so much. We won, too, so there was no reason.
It happens, it’s not the effective players who complain it’s the ones that want to fight mid and die then complain you weren’t there when you are healing a critical battle. Also, the good dps will usually tell them to shut up in my experience but sometimes they get to free cast insults.
You don’t have time to talk, get back to healing me
DPS usually just follow the healer, aside from “I’m the only person guarding this node and I’m the only healer, please relieve me” I just charge at the node I think needs reinforced or attacked and people follow.
I just read their complaints and smile to myself. Usually it’s some idiot complaining about how he wasn’t healed when the whole team ran off right past me while I was 3x sapped into a blind, or something equally stupid like that. …And if they act really rude, I just leave. I mean, it’s an L anyways - esp. with that one idiot AFK in the GY spamming insults. They can miserable together without me

I see this is the healer circle jerk thread.
Anyway while it’s fair to criticize people who just want to whine all day about wanting this and that in battlegrounds, it’s not really all that helpful to take this high and mighty stance just because you choose to play a healer.
strides in on a shining gold horse
Hello, I am healer. Are you the peasants I was asked to carry to victory?
Yeah good point - it’s amusing how some healers think they are these gods “above” criticism. Us mere mortal DPSers should be thankful just to be in their presence, as if bad/weak healers don’t exist
I have no issues complaining about a weak healer in a bg, or calling him/her out for the low numbers. If your bg teammates are dying on your watch, then obviously you’re failing your job as a healer. Maybe a bit harsh, but it’s the truth.
this is fact
Reasons to get called out on your healing is usually because your team is losing or your heals are bad.
I wouldn’t know about the latter because my heals are always good. But that segways into the real issue: people don’t tell you “hey man great heals” at all anymore.
Get a 30 mil healing seething shore where all your dps get out damaged but still get the win? You better believe there’s nobody thanking you for carrying them.
People will die in BGs even if you’re the best healer in the world. You get the PvE crowd in expecting no death dungeon runs and they get frustrated when they die but heals need to support winning the BG and not trying to keep everyone alive. There are even times when I feel I need to prioritize keeping the dps alive over myself and I’ll just shield them or riptide them as my last act.
Death’s a part of BGs but it’s not like you stay dead, if it bothers you when you die BGs probably aren’t much fun and you’re better off just running WQs and dungeons and avoiding BGs.
What makes a “Weak Healer” though? Do you even know? Given the fact that you “Call out Healers for low numbers”, I’m not confident that you know; after all, there’s a whole lot more to healing properly than just padding meters on the roadways, like DPS BG heroes.
But WHY are they failing? Is it just because said Healer is a “Weak Healer?” Is that the only possible explanation, in every single case? What a convenient excuse for the DPS! No need to accept any responsibility, ever… just blame the Healer… you know, the one that got 3x sapped into a blind, and opened on by a couple Rogues while you all rode past like nothing was happening …And then you look at the numbers to make your expert assessment
They most certainly do exist; however, given what you’ve said here, I don’t think that you can tell the difference.
Most of the time this sort of thing happens in a losing BG, when people start looking to point fingers… you know, because OBVIOUSLY they played perfectly. Usually some kid sitting in the GY AFK, spamming insults and pouting.
As per “Bad heals”: honestly, I don’t think most DPS have the slightest clue as per what makes for “Bad heals.” Numbers aren’t everything.
This, 100%.

Sounds like there’s a lot of DPS players that need to fully level and gear a healer to a moderately high ilevel through only bgs.
Yeeeeah riiiiiight. Lets not take notice of half or more of the DPS with one or zero interrupts, no defensive CDs used, focussing tanks instead of healers, doing less dps than healers… damn healers.
Of course numbers are important. If you’re getting the numbers, it means there’s that much damage to heal. If you don’t get the numbers, people die. Dead people can’t do objectives.
On the flip side, the amount of dps who say damage doesn’t matter is astounding. Of course damage matters. No damage = no kills, no kills = the other team doing objectives.
People who think damage and healing numbers don’t matter are easy to destroy.
