If you care about the game boycot this patch with curios

Hello, at the title says if you care about blizzard ruining the fun of the game please boycot this patch. The current curios that were introduced thankfully not 17 weeks into the game for some reason that was a thought to be had, but about 2-ish months since 11.1.0 is too long to have a meaningful impact in any normal persons gameplay but they aren’t account wide progress meaning you have to do mythic raid or aotc on all your alts which for the average person still struggling to step into heroic let alone mythic they werent made for us. With how hard the line up is and the average amount of guild with final boss cutting edge unique kills landing from low 600 to high end 1000 every tier this is a 0.1% of player decision which they swear up and down in every interview the game is never made for them but it currently is and not even in a meaningful way because theyll have the gear on mythic already unless its like a late ce guild which is the lower end of the already low end of cutting edge guilds. For background and closing i have played since wod nearly every day besides bfa when i took a 3 season break, i played every day in shadowlands i remember that curio system the first one, i remember the throw away who cares one in dragonflight, and this one is just the worst by a mile and next expac it’ll probably be even later and with a worse way to plug in and play the game, so if you’re still reading boycot this patch thank you.

On a positive note, at least we know the OP didn’t use AI to construct their post lol.

I am pretty sure ai can still do that if you just prompt it to churn out a response that’s specifically devoid of punctuation or paragraphing.

I tried. I tried to read it, but it all just blurs together.

why else would they post on a classic character?

I’m glad I only PvP I don’t have to worry about whatever a curios is or whatever dumb PvE change Blizzard does

Blizzard isn’t ruining the game for me because I actually play the game. No reason for me to boycott the patch.

Looks like DF is back on the menu, boys!

I’m sorry.

NOW I am taking the liberty of using ChatGPT.

This post is a passionate and somewhat chaotic critique of a recent World of Warcraft (WoW) patch, specifically targeting Patch 11.1.0 and its implementation of the new Curio system. Here’s a breakdown of the key points and deeper analysis, with tidbits, clarifications, and some context for those less familiar with WoW’s structure.

:jigsaw: Summary of the Argument

  • The Curio system was released too late into the patch cycle (about 2 months after launch), making it ineffective for most players to integrate meaningfully into their gameplay.
  • Curios are not account-wide, meaning players need to complete high-end content like Mythic raids or Ahead of the Curve (AOTC) on each alt (alternative character) individually.
  • This caters to the 0.1% of players (Cutting Edge Mythic raiders), despite Blizzard’s repeated assurances that they design for a broader player base.
  • The poster has a long history with the game, dating back to Warlords of Draenor (WoD), and uses that experience to contrast this system with previous iterations.
  • The tone is one of disappointment, exhaustion, and warning—culminating in a call to boycott the patch in protest.

I asked it to critique the main points too:

Key Point 1: “Curios are not account-wide. Therefore, they’re bad.”

:firecracker: Critique:

  • This is a value judgment based on a preference, not an inherent flaw.

Key Point 2: “The system was added too late into the patch, so it’s meaningless.”

:firecracker: Critique:

  • Sweeping generalization: For whom is it meaningless? Not all players race through content in the first month.

Key Point 3: “It’s a 0.1% decision catering only to Mythic raiders.”

:firecracker: Critique:

  • Misleading statistic: Yes, only a small fraction of players get Cutting Edge (CE), but systems like Curios can benefit players across multiple tiers, including Heroic and Normal raiders — especially over time.

Key Point 4: “This is the worst version of this system in years.”

:firecracker: Critique:

  • Extremely subjective and emotionally driven. Strong opinions aren’t inherently bad, but without clear criteria for why it’s worse than past systems, this falls into venting rather than argument.

Conclusion

While this post channels real frustration and raises valid concerns about alt-friendliness, system timing, and elite player catering, it ultimately leans too far into reactionary thinking and lacks nuanced engagement with the why behind design decisions.

The systems may be flawed — but the critique could grow stronger with:

  • Specific examples.
  • Alternative proposals.
  • Less emotional overreach.

For parity it should also apply to heroic raid loot which you will in fact get without killing heroic raid bosses.
I honestly don’t care because mythic is not in my scope for the foreseeable future and I don’t need those extra ilvls to tackle the content I actually do, but just for fairness sake and to see people get even more upset.

I agree haha, all the tears if you had to actually kill raid bosses even for heroic would be so so so salty

I assume you’ve already cancelled your sub?

What’s a curio?

I tried reading this a few times and I think my brain is broken now.

I don’t raid, is there some sort of curios for raiding?
