If we get another covenant-like feature… I have a few key changes I would love to see.
I don’t think the idea of covenants was a horrible idea, I don’t think the covenants themselves were bad either. I think the main problem was the way we had to work towards those covenants, the grinds, the things we had to do to unlock them and get the maximum player powers out of them… basically the stuff we had to do for the covenants was the main problem. I’d love to see less of a grind, a shorter time-frame to get all of the player power from each of them.
I’d prefer if we don’t “commit” to any of the options. I’d love if the progression system, if there is something like renown, was more “covenant-wide” and was just a singular progression for all of them at the same time. If you want us to have to do some short quest line to obtain their option for their ability, I think that would be fine, but if you insist we have some form of grindy progression, I’d love to see it going towards all of the covenants at the same time.
I’d love if our player power we obtain from these were more of its own separate system from the cosmetic side of things. In other words, using shadowlands as an example…Night Fae was my least favorite covenant, yet I had to pick it for player power reasons…Id love if I was able to easily work towards cosmetics for the covenant I like the most, while not having to sacrifice player power. The reason I bring this point up is because a lot of people are fine with the idea of covenants if we’re able to freely swap between them, when I actually don’t want that because then we’re still stuck having to work towards aesthetics that we don’t like for the sake of player power. A system where the cosmetics are separate from the powers would be much better.
One last point…please for the love of god, have less “systems” within those covenants…we don’t need multiple layers of systems…it feels horrible. Keep it simple.
