The question just occurred to me - If we can fly around on a giant robot and pick flowers, why don’t we have a robot to mine ore?

Does the sky golem not let you mine? That’s phenomenally dumb.

I demand a mount with a huge drill for mining, and also for creating the heavens. But mainly mining.

Idk which came first so i could be wrong but i imagine the sky golem was allowed to gather so that non droods were even with droods when it came to herbing. Since droods cannot mine in flight form it kinda checks out.

Good point - that might explain why. However, I think its past time we ALL get to have a mining mount - do you agree?

1000x i agree. Everyone should be like droods in flight form when we are on our mounts.

And also gib droods mining in flight form xd

I can sense some sorta monkey’s paw, like we would be required to gather even more resources because of some ease of collecting. :crystal_ball::robot:

We can in Dragonflight.

There are talents in both the Knowledge trees for Herbalism and Mining that let you herb/ mine while on your Dragon mount. It currently only applies to Dragonflight though. I don’t think it works for other zones.

I feel like Dragons enjoy the mining which is why they let characters stay on their back while doing it, once you prove you won’t smack them with your mining pick.

The 2 Herbing Mounts we have work in every zone, at the cost of not being able to use mount equipment.

I think the only reason we haven’t got a mining equivalent is the herbing mounts were added to off-set the fact druids could herb in flight form. They can’t mine in flight form though.

That is the likely logic for it when they designed the flower picking robot mount. I agree there.

Now that we can herb and mine on our dragon mounts with the right knowledge points, they might as well let us do both on all mounts, if we have the right mount equipment/profession knowledge.

I felt really dumb when I realized I had not put points into that aspect for my farming characters! That is what I get for not using a guide.

You can now mine on any mount by leveling up that tree in the profession specs. I would guess this will continue into the future.

mechagnomes bonus should be a 1% to obtain more ore since they kinda suck lol minus the one that uses the emoji on here lol i love that guy.

Maybe they could put a robot mining mount in the Trading Post, or better yet let Engineers buy/earn a pattern to make a mining mount which functions like the Sky Golem but for mining nodes without dismount.

Because the sky golem was created to let others pick flowers like druids in flight form. Mining dropped druids out of flight form so mining was not included.
