If Turalyon becomes king, I want the option to leave the Alliance

I would like to point out on the burning of Teldrasil: much of the Horde didn’t like it either, but were in a position of ‘between a rock and a hard place’ either they say no and are treated like traitors potentially blighted/used for experimentation/raised against their will or they go along with it an live at the cost of doing something aweful.

Alot of people forget that Sylvanis was not liked by many within the horde but they were in no position to directly oppose her most of the time.

That’s why both my Horde and Alliance RP groups and guilds fell apart. People didn’t like being backed into these corners on either side. My Horde groups were just like, “Welp… screw this. I don’t want to even be Horde now.” And quit the game.

I wouldn’t call a legendary Alliance character being degraded by being turned into a light-infused human Garrosh “interesting”. Reminds me of when people say movies can’t be “interesting” unless they’re grimdark gritty edgy drivel.

To be fair, his naaru was basically saying to Illidan “you don’t have a choice, I’m gonna remake you and change everything you’ve made yourself into, just sit back and enjoy it”. Turalyon is a lemming.

How is he going to marry Wrathion if he doesn’t come back for Dragonflight?!

The new wowhead article clarifies that the translation can mean two things - Stepping Down or Retreating.

So it could legitimately be either lol.

Though, if he DOES leave, I wanna know why every other race just lets Turalyon become leader of the Alliance.

It was already weird they let Anduin.

whats wrong with following the cult leader of the light to our demise? seems neat.

To be fair, most of the factions in the alliance follow strict hereditary kingdom passing (Worgen Greymanes, Dwarves with the Bronzebeards, Kul-Tirans with the Proudmoores, etc. Like, how long has Tyrande been calling the shots for the Nelves ffs?)

No one really complained that ANduin would lead the humans.

We were more concerned with why he was able to lead the entire Alliance over someone with seniority like Tyrande.

When asked about it on twitter, the writers said something like “He’s human” and then “They’d get back to us with an explanation.”

Considering how it seems The Alliance is primarily made up of by humans (cursed or not) it makes some sense that humans would lead.

That said, I’m also of the opinion that The Horde, and The Alliance, in their current…implementation?..should be dissolved as alliances at this point as they were formed decades prior and have done nothing but cause issues by existing

Not to mention it creates awkward scenarios of the Tauren and Nightborne helping genocide the Night Elves, completely counter to their entire race’s morals.

I think the issue with Tyrande specifically is that as a species with lifespans measured in millennia, Night Elves are naturally going to have a very different perspective on a lot of things than shorter lived races would and as a result, may have issues fully grasping the mindset of those races and empathizing with them, making it hard to act as a leader for them. Draenei have the same issue.

Dwarves may be a good candidate for leading the Alliance, with how the fall kinda in the middle on everything, lifespans included.

You’re absolutely right that the writers should’ve been clear about what they perceived to be the problem with Tyrande though.

Nah, nothing is worse than Anduin-Dumb-Horde-Buddy.

Agreed here, it’s why I was so excited about the announce of crossfaction starting to finally be a thing as it’s shown time and time again that some races (more than others) do their best to do right even if that means helping the ‘enemy’ per Horde vs Alliance.

And then the mention how Dragonflight isn’t a military expedition but scholars/scientists/explorers and how it’s being initialized by The Reliquary and The Explorers League and I was legit excited for a factionless expansion feel and then they instantly started bringing up how ‘if you have warmode on you can cause havoc on the other boat’ and it kinda took alot of the wind out of my excitement there

Come then you imperialist scum, the Zandalari are waiting for our moment to avenge Rastakhan! We will cast your shattered bodies from our temples!

Bring your aggression and war, the Zandalari are waiting for our chance to show you what we would’ve done if we were there! You knife eared freaks are a stain on this world!

I mocked her right back, hypocritical knife eared creature. Was it Zandalari who burned your tree? I think not.

Honestly, I think following Dragonflight we will get an elemental lord expac, and following that one that focuses on a war between Horde and Alliance where we replay the events of the faction war in MoP but this time it will be the Horde unseating a tyrannical Turalyon. Consider that Anduin is doing EXACTLY what Thrall did, step aside and hand the reigns over to someone who, at the time, seems a reasonable choice. Of course, we have the Il’gynoth statement to support that theory, “The golden one claims a vacant throne. The crown of light will bring only darkness.” Perhaps Turalyon will be fine in DF but start to show inclinations toward being a dictator in 11.0 I mean he already has the hallmarks of an extremist anyway just as Garrosh was. Anduin returns in 12.0 to help take him down, then they ask Anduin to resume his seat as King but he declines it and abdicates and the Alliance leadership turns into a council just like the Horde…

Regardless, he’s still leaving things to Turalyon, which sets up the Light vs Void stuffs.

Because it’s not up to everyone else.

If Turalyon becomes king, doesn’t that mean Alleria will become queen? Maybe he will build his queen a new Void Elf district in Stormwind.

if that’s the case will this mean the alliance gets the villain for the first time?

Pretty much. Which is needed. I foresee Anduin eventually coming back to fight alongside Velen against Turalyon and his Army of the Light.
