If they had to rebuild the game from the ground up, what changes would you like to see?

I would love fully voiced over quests and revamping of all the zones to make the story coherent

Hopefully the game will not need to be rebuilt. The game as it stands is very excellent and has withstood the test of time; it’s engine is nearly two decades old and it’s doing marvelous! I do hope that Ion and the devs continue to add onto the already exciting and amazing version of World of Warcraft without rebuilding it, etc., or else it just wouldn’t be the same thing :frowning:

Follower NPCs from the beginning and continue with you from one expansion to the next. I would love to have Thisalee Crow always with me not just in Legion content for example. Only outdoor content, they go away in instanced areas like dungeons and raids. I’m very much enjoying the Companions in ESO right now as flawed and crappy as they are, it’s still fun having them around.

Good joke. It’s built on a mountain of spaghetti.

The shillery is unreal

AI sort of like in the island expeditions, but they gank low leveled players.

Maybe that’s what’s distracting them so much, working on the exact same game with call of duty graphics. And knowing Ion, it would be rereleased like Classic with no flying.

It’s totally beating Oldschool Runescape for active players… for now.

Better 3D armor, pets which keep their effects after taming, player housing, old glyphs returned which supposedly couldn’t be tuned right, etc…

its the wow forums so of course some people like the game? shills are the ones using bots to keep making ff14 posts over and over again

I’d like choices in the storyline that affected the outcome (similar to SWTOR). I’d also like to be able to run all content singeplayer, yes even dungeons and raids, accompanied by storyline NPCs.

Check his post history. It’s obvious that he’s shilling super hard

Oooooh, from the ground up? Aight…

Azeroth being many magnitudes larger to start. Like, Golshire as big as current Stormwind as a scale reference. Cap the game at 60, but make the exp required to get to 60 high enough where leveling to 20 takes as long as it would take to level 1-70 in vanilla TBC.

With that said, focus hardcore on the world and leveling experience. Player housing. Guild housing. Have market stalls players can buy/rent out to run their professions businesses through. Have TONS of side quests. Maybe a quest line that includes signing up to go through Stormwind City guard training (which maybe unlocks quests to investigate/catch criminals in Stormwind). Maybe even have it be a choice thing…optional side quest to become honorary Stormwind guard or optional side quest to become part of Stormwind’s underbelly. Rogue’s in particular could have either option unlock a future quest chain to explore Ravenholdt.

That’s just a very tiny, small, portion of what could be included. Like, imagine leveling in a world where there is SO much to do in every single zone that you can just explore, relax, have fun, and not have to TRY and rush to max level with the mindset that the game is only about end-game PvP/Raiding. A game where when it includes a festival you can play the mini games for simple enjoyment instead of trying to farm tokens or tickets to collect every last thing.

On the more mechanical side…

Professions a little bit more interactive would be nice. Where if you’re a blacksmith, you have to time when you strike your hammer or something. Maybe even have a quality system for materials so you could make say… an Arcanite Reaper…but if you used poor quality materials then the axe wouldn’t have as good stats/durability. But if you used the best materials, it would have really good stats/durability. The poor quality one would still find use as a cheap alternative for people who can’t afford the high quality version.

Once the game is out long enough to warrant an “expansion”, do sideways progression where the level cap remains 60, experience and levels gained would provide maybe additional stat point bonuses you can assign or an additional talent point (using the old school talent trees).

Overall make gear pretty sparse in that… think of Sulfuras/Thunderfury as epics you might see, and things like the Tier sets would be blue, and so on all the way down. Eventually when it’s time to include a legendary item, make it not only require an investment of effort but also a one-time thing (think like the Scarab Lord title/black AQ bug mount).

Finally, put a lot of effort into population control. Lock new accounts from creating a character on a specific faction if that faction is becoming too populated, and simultaneously find an incentive to create a character on the underpopulated faction (nothing crazy like gold or free bags which can be exploited, or a large exp boost or temporary stat buff which could be seen as an unfair advantage… but still something enticing).

No cross-realm anything. The people you see out in the world shouldn’t randomly fade away like a ghost, and anybody you expect to see in a battleground you should have a relatively decent chance crossing paths in the world. If you play for long enough, you should be able to recognize the names of players you’ve either grouped with, saw out in the world, or fought against.

Well anyway that was just off the top of my head and I’m sure I can think of a ton more things I would personally like to see if I had more time, but I’ll leave it at that for now.
