Cineplex, for example, takes 45% of the ticket price. There goes half your “profit” right off the bat.
Promotion is typically half of the movie’s budget. There goes 80 million dollars.
The CCP took 75% in China (google cinemablend, hollywood not making nearly as much money from China as you think).
Therefore, the Warcraft movie did NOT make a profit.

A Sylvanas movie wouldn’t be bad up until her change in cataclysm time. She isn’t a bad character, actually really good. Her story was awfully confusing and slow as a player in game witnessing it. They did a bad job keeping the story moving at a decent enough pace to not make the small amount we were getting feel frustrating.
It took six years to tell us she was mind controlled.
When you think about it, if her domination started in cata after wrath, that is ten years. But as long as she has been more of a prominent character, it’s just been slow ride.
