If the sun exploded

And you know, we had 8 minutes or something until everything gets toasty…

Would you log into WoW? Rofl

I saw a TikTok about the sun exploding so it made me think about it. What would you do?

My answer made me laugh and cry at the same time.

What was your answer?

I’d hope it was day time and I could watch it happen. Of course we’d never really know as SOHO transmits no faster so unfortunately no real warnings. I’d probably miss it. :dracthyr_cry_animated:

We wouldn’t know the sun exploded until the fireball was on top of us, and then we’d have a couple seconds.

I’ll take cover in my fridge.

I put some serious thought into it. Like if I was by myself, I’d most likely log into wow. I’d do it just to say goodbye to anybody on there and one last thunderfury post in trade for good measure. It wouldn’t be a long thing I did just a quick pop in.

When I think about it, I spend a lot of my free time on the game. So it’s my natural go to. I would regret not doing it maybe. Of course the majority of the time would be with family.

Like 10 seconds on wow and the rest with family however I could. On the phone or something. If I could make it to see somebody I’d try but it would be mayhem outside and I wouldn’t want to waste time getting in car accidents and stuff.

But yeah maybe not log in at all if somebody was here with me. Def log in if I’m by myself just for a moment. No news on or nothing, that would be stressful. lol

There’d have to be some warning signs! I feel like they could tell somehow. We got telescopes on it.

It’s pretty cool that you can ponder on really deep questions like that. I’m not actually sure what I would do in that situation. My mind tends to resist thinking about it.

Our warning would be limited by the speed of light. Telescopes can’t speed that up.

Franky, no.

What would be the point? If I knew I was going to die in 8 minutes or less, the last thing I’d be doing is logging into an MMO to see Stormwind one last time. I’d be calling my family, or at least the ones I can reach and giving them my final farewells.

It’s pretty hard to think about. Just a moment left to do things. It really heavily depends on what your doing, who’s with ya, where your at and stuff.

Like if I was at work I’d leave, walk out and stand there I guess. Take it all in. If people were here with me and they didn’t know, I probably wouldn’t tell them but I’d hug them the whole time. If I was alone, I hop on wow.

I wouldn’t want to be alone but I also wouldn’t want to be in the middle of panic.

That the sun was about to explode, sure, that’s possible. But the OP is talking past tense: the sun already exploded, and so there wouldn’t be any warning. The light, heat, and other EM radiation would all get to us at the same time (at the speed of causality).

Wouldn’t matter though either way. Given Blizz’s record, right then WoW would be down for extended maintenance.

Dude that would suck if the sun exploded on a Tuesday.

I’d have to come here instead rofl. People still be asking for compensation.

I’d be really upset about any taxes I’d paid already for the year. Not to mention a six month sub.

It would hit us 8 mins after it happened but we still wouldn’t know its coming because the info delay.

So youd be doing w/e your doing then die

Like a gamma ray burst. We cant detect it and it would just fry us

Some scary stuff out there

I would get the biggest most powerful heater on earth i should be fine then.

On the subject, space is really fascinating and terrifying at the same time. The sheer magnitude of some of these things.

Play some Elite Dangerous in VR and warp into a solar system. I don’t know about anyone else, but it takes my breath away just experiencing THAT. I can’t even begin to fathom the enormity of empty space or things like the Abell 1201 black hole.

In your scenario:

1.) Turn on the surround sound.

2.) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rf7JcyFJO0k&t=2900s&pp=ygUOUmFkYWdhc3QgbXVzaWM%3D

3.) Lay down.

4.) Close eyes.

5.) Have an adventure.

Warmaul OST Suite will probably win as the choice of music though.
