I’m not arguing with emotional non-sense. The horde was not the way it currently is at the end of the Wrath of the Lich king, or even the start of Cataclysm.
The writers have destroyed everything from Vanilla to Wrath, that build up of character that made the horde a multi-dimensional faction. One that had it’s dark past, but also was clearly trying to make right on things, and work towards dealing with -REAL- issues in the world, besides this non-sense fighting with the alliance.
Sure, there were still skirmishes between the two factions, but when push came to shove, they were able to put aside their differences and deal with issues at hand. It wasn’t perfect, but it was working towards something better.
Now? Now Blizzard seems to have completely lost the entire understand of how to write two flawed, but still valid sides of a conflict, and instead have tried to seem to bolster the alliance up as some sort of paragons despite some of their past actions, while dropping the horde repeatedly down a cliche villainous path, despite the way they originally had been trying to fix issues. You’ve got all the super duper evil bad guy tropes going for the horde now, it’s not the same as it once was, and this disgusts me as someone whose been here from the start.
Also, until Sylvanas gives me any damn proof she gives a single absolutely damn about anyone besides herself or the forsaken, you can state I “Don’t know” all you want, but her actions speak louder than any words, and her actions scream she doesn’t give a toss about the horde.
Further, I’m sorry but is it wrong of me to want characters that have lived through these events before in the past to maybe understand history, maybe some of these hundreds of years old people might be able to have a little wisdom to add into the situation?
We can still be a part of the story if the heads of factions are intelligent, and not just mindlessly perusing their own self interests.
It’s not like the bloody GIANT SWORD STICKING OUT OF THE PLANET is hidden or anything. It’s not like the complete destruction of Sithilus might have send warning signs like 'Hmm, well this doesn’t seem good"
No, instead both sides simply see a substance they would prefer to turn into weapons of war to murder each other with, and as always, leave the neutral factions to pick up the messes they leave behind.
I’m not asking for characters to always be smart, and always do the right thing, but maybe once in an expansion or two it would be nice if the leaders of either faction had a brain in their heads.
But no, instead we have this faction war over emphasized and shoved down our throat, over a resource we shouldn’t be using for warfare to begin with. It’s not like the planet is literally dying guys, no worries, though, a dead planet wouldn’t bother sylvanas at least.
This is even ignoring the fact that both the alliance and horde have constantly been at a war in one form or another for over a decade now, and are now only giving lip services to “Ooh, not enough resources, we are running low on resources” yet somehow always seem to have armies no matter where they go, fully kitted out, and perfect, siege machines readily tossed together and deployed on a whim.
We literally get over a demon invasion, which we suffered the largest amounts of casualties since the cataclysm, and go straight back into going to war with each other over Azerite.
There’s not even a lull period where time passes and each side seems to try to fix any issues, it’s literally just jump into the next war. somehow fully stocked and ready to go… while also constantly running out of resources.
The writing and disconnects in this game are staggering at this point.
