It’s been an 8 year battle with this between mythic+ and raiding.
TWW is finally more on par (DF season 1 was ok as well) and it just brings out tears.

slow task is harder still, time consuming, since not everyone have the time to waste on it
Nope, I’ve done exactly 3 Mythics (all +4, only 2 timed) and have gotten all but a handful of my slots onto Hero track and my ilvl up over 615 purely thru Delves and the Vault. It takes months of Vault drops and some luck with the extra-chest-delve-map-buff thingies, but it is doable.
Time consumption isn’t the same as difficulty. Copying data from a paper to an excel file isn’t difficult, but it can be tume consuming.
There were 2 separate interviews that had slightly different vibes. The first one they just mentioned that t8 delves made mythics below 7 seem pointless and that m+7 is a bad start point for m+. People interpreted this as an indication that they would nerf delve loot because that is pretty on brand for blizzard. This started the current brouhaha.
A few days later, in a different interview, they expressly stated that they were happy with delve rewards, including hero track and that they needed to work on improving low keys.
Both interviews have been swirling around. Some only saw one, some saw the other, some saw them out of order. Thus much confusion.
Difficulty is a matter of perspective, copying data from a paper to excel for 10 hours straight without a break, by example, is not easy
The thing is, while delves get you to 606 quickly, it takes several weeks to a couple months to get to 619 because delves have low crest drops. Anyone who intends on using delves as a stepping stone to m+ would start during that time because it’d be faster spammimg +4s for crests, trinkets and gear with better stats than sticking around delves.
While I’m sure there are some people who try, most who spend weeks to months gearing to 619 in delves aren’t going to suddenly try to join +8s when they could have hit 619, in better gear, weeks earlier my starting m+ at 606.
I would love to play mythic + but 1. I am scared people will kick me out cause I need to learn it and I am behind and 2. I have no friends to do it with that will be kind to me and teach it do me. I learn by doing and making mistakes and getting better and better. Not everyone is forgiving about that kind of learning.
No thanks.
This is assuming you have like-minded people of a similar mindset and gear level, or that you’re willing to slog thru +4 - +8 PUGs.
Those are very big assumptions.
I haven’t done a delve since like week 3 of the season… why would I care what they do with delves… it’s just stepping stone content for me.
The one where Ion came out and confirmed they weren’t doing this but three days later we still have people posting on the forums because they want to make sure they have the highest ilvl possible to never challenge themselves at all in the delves?
So your hypothetical player who is using delves as a stepping stone to m+ doesn’t have a group and doesn’t want to pug +4-8 even though they give superior rewards. What exactly are they stepping towards?
Delves are a perfectly fine stepping stone to other content. This player was incentivized to start m+ at 606 with better, faster gear but they refused because pugging is too hard.
This doesn’t sound like an issue with delve rewards. It sounds like an inexperienced, shortsighted player that doesn’t actually want to do m+.
Yes. Every person who has interacted with delves has done so out of pure glee and nothing to do with the path of least resistence
50/50
As mentioned in the interview, the next upgrade step for delvers is about an +7 range.
They dont want to have to go back and work the 2-5 range to get into, or be learned up for, 7s.
Now if delve gear capped around the +3 or +4 reward, the scaling at those lower keys leads to be considerably more forgiving so the step into the next upgrade range wouldnt be as steep/hard.
Well, in my case I haven’t done anything M+ related since SL pretty much. My only real M+ experience was pugging to KSM in SL Season 3.
Here is what I think of M+
I just don’t engage in M+ because:
Most every M+ Season I’ll think… maybe I should look in to this. I fire up youtube start watching a guide and about ~5 minutes in. MEGO[1]. Close window go do something else.
The biggest impact for me is that the go go M+ mentality seems to trickle down into all dungeon content. Which means for me I pretty much skip it as it is just not interesting content anymore.
M+ really doesn’t impact me personally. Blizzard can do whatever they want with it. I can do the questlines, see the story and as long as I can clear the bosses in LFR at least once I’m good. All I really need is enough iLevel to mine/herb/fish/quest without any hassle and I"m fine.
Plus… Almost forgot… I’m just tired of finding a group of people to run with, and then watching them all wash out after a couple of years to go do something else. It just seems to be a lot harder to hold a group of people together the last few expansions.

In your opinion.
What you feel is easy =/= mean others feel the same.
Xfd people will get hand held throughout the comment and still twist it to make up an argument that don’t exist.
Amazing
By the reward scale blizzard had in place before delves came in and offset it actually
I quit doing them, too hard to find groups that dont fall apart. Raids are the same. I have basically just reverted back to leveling alts till things change.
