That would have been the smart decision ![]()
Tbh if I was blizz, I’d use the simulation sites to see what people are using for bis items and just move those certain items to last boss.
Minimal effort for maximum fix.

“This” would be solved by not putting a BiS trinket for multiple classes on the first boss of a dungeon.
And no, I will not entertain the notion that Blizz just throws crap at a wall and we work out what is BiS. That’s fantasy.
If you want to make an argument for removing the deserter penalty for queued dungeons, just make a post about that. Trying to hamfist that topic into the unrelated M+ drama just detracts from your actual ask by making you look silly. They are not related.
Might be that they didn’t have the time or simply didn’t care enough. I feel the reward department is a mess this expansion with the clunky gear upgrade tracks. I seriously do not like a lot about gearing this expansion while not aggravating to the point of azerith gear or titanforging.
I just find the idea that we have better theorycrafting than they are capable of to be an incredible perspective. Don’t get me wrong, there are amazing people, geniuses even, theorycrafting on the gamer side of things.
But they won’t beat people of their caliber with an insider perspective. Ever.
I’m not hating it and I’m easily an “undergeared” main for this point in the season. I play alts every season so to me this one has been, if anything, spoiling me.
What are you specifically not liking though?
LFR fills were fine last expansion. One boss down you’re free to leave with no penalty.
It think Blizz in an attempt to curb “bad behavior” punished the masses under a cloak of “it’s what you wanted, we’re listening”… while being tone deaf to the actual issue they caused. Giving players 30 minute debuffs for all queued content if they don’t do it from start to finish in all situations (even LFR with a loot lock out, for backfilling) isn’t the fix, was never going to be… the fix… was not a “W” for the players at all. They need a debuff sure… it needs to make sense when that debuff hits players or I’m sorry you look like a douche canoe.
The first “fix” they should probably implement is making it 15 minutes instead of 30 and then retro actively making some of the other issues… function properly again.
They did change in BFA a mount dropping to last boss because people were simply leaving after the mount boss. I think they can recognize the issue with some behavior. While for sure this meant in this case that it amplified the problem a lot.
They recognize the issue but went for the “easy on us, hard on you” solution for it.
As we’ve both already said it didn’t correct the behavior it only kicked the can into 0s for a daily chance at the same item from the same boss, then a leave.
So it was more of an “easy on us, hard on you” collective punishment for the playerbase than a solution.
I surprisingly liked gearing this season.
Delve vendor to catch you up to adventure track
Delves also drop veteran BoEs even in WQ
Made an OC helmet, got a hero track head from a map and thought I needed to spend more Runed only to realize I didn’t(This was really nice imo)
Also sparks
Outside the crest grind I really can’t vibe with someone when I see they say alt gearing is terrible.
I did hate TF and trasherite. Terrible systems.
The problem with this season is because hero track is basically non-existent.
Champion track can be fully upgraded to where Hero track needs gilded crests which comes from content you’re doing normally at mythic raiding level…(which is why they made gilded drop from +8 to fix the problem but the problem was the track) This really skew the gearing process moreover when the overlaps imo makes gearing feel less rewarding in themselves and this made mythic track a bit too heavily timegated and oppressing because what you want is a 13 ilvl difference between heroic and mythic, and basically all other difficulties so upgrades feels good enough. But by requiring gilded to fully upgrade heroic gear mythic track is 20 ilvl higher than hero.
This problem was also made worse because they gave us too many crests before content like raids and M+ were released, letting you fully upgrade a track before even raids or M+ were released. They should release crests at the same time when M+/raids are released.
I do not have one 619 yet. I do not have two like you do.
I still think gearing is easy this season because I have 4 between 611 and 617. The funny part is that historically I’ve been the DPS to my wife’s heals. Going back to 2004 when we met on here. This season my four best geared are two tanks and two healers.
But I don’t think WF/TF was that bad, so that would be my only disagree there.
They fixed an “issue” by exacerbating problems in other areas of game play and are slapping many many many people with 30 minute debuffs when they logically don’t “deserve” it, because that’s how it “works” now. They didn’t handle anything by giving the masses 30 minute debuffs… some people which were being degenerates finally found their way to M+ it started in normal dungeons, went to making LFR chain debuffs and now has actually infected an area of play… that Blizz wants to seem like they’re “no-nonsense” about it’s abuse… They could have handled it by suspending the accounts that were the issue in the first place though. The people who were leaving Ara Kara to an abusive extent and that would have sent the same message minus the 30 minute debuff for leaving any queued content at any time for any reason though.
K, so, they are taking this action for keys currently.
Why can’t they do so for queued content as well? Since this is a new standard.
Perhaps we don’t need a debuff at all if they can just take action on top offenders, correct?
They have banned for griefing before. It’s more that you can’t really expect them to always act.
So that getting removed from the group is never something anybody actually wants, like to get into a different, faster dungeon.
“going afk kick me pls”.
Are you seriously asking this question? Really?
Really?
The reason M+ players are getting banned if they’re serial leavers is because once you start an M+ group, you can’t replace anyone in the group. Meaning you’re trying to do the run with 4 or less (depending on how many people leave). That’s a lot harder to time, impossible depending on the key difficulty. Meaning the key is most likely bricked, all that time is wasted.
With the random dungeon finder, no one else that was in the group suffers if you leave. You get a debuff, they get to queue for a replacement and continue the dungeon without you.
Setting a few examples can do wonders in my experience. Look at GD right now.
People that left a M+ dungeon a week ago are like “aM i bAnDed?!?!?”
Move all loot to the end of any queued content. That will fix people loot-n-scooting.
Leave the deserter debuff, and enhance it to account wide to anyone who leaves in the first 15 minutes of the run. That will fix people leaving undesirable dungeons.
Limit the number of VKs a player (account wide) can initiate in one season. That will mitigate the illegitimate VK abuse.
If that is the design philosophy, the current implementation does a poor job of making that clear. The fact that a single d/c or getting kicked for frivolous reasons turns into a 30 minute debuff just doesn’t sit well with me. Sloppy and off the mark.
I mean it’s been working that way for way longer, I’m not sure it is unclear as much as it is frustrating if it happens and you feel you didn’t deserved it. While it shouldn’t happen often or it can point to a problem on your part.
