Can the devs iterate on it to make it more fun?
Right now all it’s useful for for WW Is a super mandatory and punishing maintenance buff. For MW it’s in a little bit better place but still just maintenance buffs with a little active healing.
It should have a baseline interaction with core mechanics and then be modified further by talents.
MW options:
- JFS can reset the cooldown of RSK. This is good because as MW Often sitting on the JFS reset but have no reason to press it. If you can use the reset during the windows where RSK and BOK are on cooldown to fish for RSK procs would be very fun
- JFS increases the movement speed of Allies when hit by a medium amount, and increases movement speed while standing on the Faeline by a small amount
- JFS creates a small 3% health shield on allies hit, which can be stacked up with multiple hits (this would be nice in M+ to complement Celestial cocoon in high scaling keys — essentially a JFS → Chi Burst → JFS → Celestial combo to get 3% + 3% + 15% absorb)
- Lingering Chi - allies hit by JFS receive a stack of lingering chi energy. Directly healing these targets heals for an additional amount
Ideas for WW:
- Buff the damage considerably please
- Jade Exposure - Dealing damage with Jadefire Stomp generates a stack of Jade Exposure on each enemy. Dealing direct damage to the target causes your next ability to deal x% attack power damage. This effect can stack.
- Resonating Chi - Enemies hit by Jadefire Stomp resonate with energetic Chi, pulsing damage around themselves for 5 seconds
- Aftershocks - 3 seconds after each Faeline cast, an aftershock occurs which deals more damage and can trigger secondary effects like Jade Exposure / Resonating Chi
- Chi Infusion - allies hit by your JFS gain 3% versatility for 5 seconds. If they deal x% attack power damage, you also gain 3% bonus damage for 5 seconds for 5 seconds. The duration does not refresh.
- Add a charge-up version of JFS that deals significantly more damage than the baseline version and make it a skill shot like Evoker’s flame breath. This way it’s a massive hit in the rotation and has big aftershock damage.

Other mist weavers are sitting on the jade fire stomp reset? I’ve been hitting it immediately unless the fight is definitely about to move.
This is exactly what you want to do, and reset with Chi Burst only when suddenly moving.
On its own the Jadefire Stomp reset cast is lower value than basically any other GCD (for both damage and healing) so it’s only useful for maintaining the ground buff and ATOTM.
That should change so we can see the JFS reset to have a more active impact for the mana cost and position cost
Consider 1 build like a direct impact build where the stomp itself hits really hard as a chi infused slam ability as a skill shot with crackling Tiger Lightning chi aftershocks ex.
A 2nd build option for the Jadefire fissure to have a buff /debuff effect on each ally / enemy so that you have to combo the enemies like a combo class does. If there are 1-2 stacks of the debuff on each target from a JFS → Chi Burst reset → JFS, and dealing a direct damage ability or melee attack on that target deals bonus ST damage, then there is a cool incentive to stack your hard hitting abilities on those 2 hits on each target, which already synergizes with the way Skyreach works.
It could even interact with mastery by boosting the damage from combo strikes when hitting these targets and consuming the stacks from stomp.
There are a lot of directions it could go and would love to see some more attention shown to this ability as it has had so much negative feedback but it also has so much potential

honestly would rather have BDB or anything other than jadefire, TBH I won’t be taking it if at all possible in terms of grabbing other things.
Nah BDB is pretty bad mechanically for all specs except brewmaster where it actually synergizes very well BrM Mechanics
I guarantee you would feel different if JFS felt good to press — which it doesn’t.
If you could charge up and unleash a devastating stomp with Tiger Lightning chi aftershocks on AoE (ex Celestials route)
Or if it applies a stacking vulnerability that allows you to execute 1-3 target combos, JFS could be fun (ex. shado Pan route)
WW in general needs more meaningful actives and monk in general needs fewer passives as we have a lot of those already and we can see feedback that gaining more passives in the Hero Talent trees is less desirable than having a more meaningful button to press (which is not Flurry Strikes please)
I don’t think a 15 second CD maintainance buff is a fun thing to press. I mean I pretty much avoid talents I don’t like even if its a DPS loss because at the end of the day its a game.
Me neither. I’m advocating for a redesigned version that does something more than just maintenance buffs.
It’s a cool ability if it just did something cool but it doesn’t
Again, if it was an active thst hit really hard and had lightning aftershocks that would be cool. You’d really be hoping for a Chi Burst reset
Also, as another type of build, if JFS created combo windows by placing a debuff on the targets that is removed by a ST ability to deal bonus damage, that would also be cool. Increasing the ability damage by a flat % scales with crit since now the crit doubles the flat damage added to the base damage
This synergizes with the target weaving from Skyreach where you will be switching targets to combo off of Skyreach anyways, but now you have a cool interaction with JFS and it can be expanded to scale with mastery by boosting the damage done to this debuff if the ability used to “pop” it activates Mastery:Combo Strikes
If this was just a 1 min cooldown I could line up with storm earth and fire I would be less opposed to it.

Yes I’d imagine for the “charge up” / “big damage stomp” version, the trade off would be a longer cooldown such as 1 minute so that the resets are much more impactful and balanced. This could also line up with SEF applying Skytouch to everything at the 1 minute mark
For the “debuff” / “vulnerability/combo” type JFS, I would hope they keep the CD lower so that you can get lots of refreshes to generate stacks fluidly for buffing your rotation
one of the reasons I didn’t mind BDB was because at the very least its a 1 min damage amp that lined up with skytouch to give me a power spike every pull
Absolutely.
The devs should be designing the abilities and the hero talent trees with these kinds of cycles in mind.
That’s 1 big reason why flurry strikes really doesn’t make a lot of sense as a shado-pan for WW / BrM.
We have a 1min/2min cycle for WW so the abilities should complement that as well as the other core concepts of the class. In shado pans case, should emphasize combos, not just have a lazy fists of fury duplicate.
those buffs should be tied into the major cooldowns rather than just happen whenever.
Monk is about both.
We should have some short cd abilities that grant smaller sized buffs and then long cd abilities that grant bigger buffs.
Then our goal is to synchronize them
All together in optimal ways while also getting the maximum number of casts to form combo windows for our big attacks.

I feel like the only reason they don’t want to get rid of it is because they put work on its animation update. It’s the least fun WW ability in existence.

Yea I agree but personally I liked the old look better.
For WW it should be Xuen Lightning colored and themed instead of Yuulon themed for MW
Also just make it hit way harder for WW
That’s good that they’re changing it. What you shared is the same wording except now it has 20% movement speed for you, no essence font bolts, and looks like we might have charges of it
I’m glad to see the charge aspect but definitely needs a damage buff for both specs
Realized my error. Didn’t realize it was still sucky for MW …
Looks like an interesting option for WW. The singularly focused jade talent that deals 500% increased damage but now it’s single target is interesting.
Edit: interesting because it basically becomes a ranged attack for WW. I hope they also give it a modified animation.
IMO talent needs improvement still.
It’s basically guaranteeing that JFS will deal the same damage as if it hit all 5 targets that it is capped to, regardless of how many targets it hits
It’s still not a lot of damage overall, more than RSK but less than 3 ticks of FoF since on its own the JFS doesn’t contribute a lot of damage and more important than the damage is the damage amp from from hitting the target
Just let it hit all 5 targets for 500% more damage as a way cooler talent and also increase the base damage
stomp is fine, skill issue or something idk
you press it every 15 seconds
for MW isnt that bad , even if u leave the stomp u keep the buff for a few seconds , cant remember if thats a talent , but by the time buff is gone u have JFS back
