If I've recommended a PC build to you and included the Cooler Master Q300/500L

aaaannd indecision has struck. Cancelled all orders again.

I need help, perhaps the mental kind.

Tape a vacuum to it and get even better air flow!! :joy:

Boredom can be a dangerous thing! I’m checking in daily to see what you end up buying - we should start a betting pool. :upside_down_face:

Those temps I mentioned were from HWMonitor - so now this makes me wonder if I am actually running hot.

HWInfo has 3 Sensor readings:
CPU (Tctl/Tdie)
CPU (average)
CPU CCD1 (Tdie)

CPU (Tctl/Tdie) shows the highest temp and caps out the same as HWMonitor, around 77-79 now that I put fans on Performance setting. It doesn’t stay there, it just spikes up to that.

The other two seem to read closer to RM and show a Max of low to mid 70s. It looks like I’m staying mostly in the 40’s with some jumps up to the 50s while I’m working (with spikes to 60s and 70s).

Does this sound more ‘normal’?

I’ll probably still add the fan because all you guys are a bad influence and now I want to do stuff…

Just an update in case someone searching stumbles across this thread. In addition to the issue with HWMonitor having higher temps, it seems that ambient temperature has contributed to the temps being on the high side of normal.

Since the outside temperature has dropped significantly and the windows are open, even the “CPU (Tctl/Tdie)” temp in HWInfo (which was reading the same as HWMonitor) hasn’t gone above 74 and the other two, which are closer to RM haven’t gone above 67 & 71. Temps have gone as low as 39.5 and are mostly in the 40s.

These readings are after I went back into the BIOS and turned the fans down to Standard from Performance.

Didn’t notice this before - just an FYI, the front panel isn’t solid. The case seems to have decent airflow with the mesh/screen also on the top. https://c773974.ssl.cf2.rackcdn.com/485876_410928_02_front_thumbnail.jpg

I’m still going to order a fan for the top next time I’m making a purchase.

Ok, so you said that and I had to go look. I didn’t notice they changed the cases!

According to one of the Q/A answers, now they use the “lian-li lancool 205” and it has front air intakes on the side: https://90a1c75758623581b3f8-5c119c3de181c9857fcb2784776b17ef.ssl.cf2.rackcdn.com/608933_959445_04_front_zoom.jpg

I wonder how the air flow in that compares.

i have air intakes on top and bottom of my case (S340) and its less than ideal. I’m upgrading to a new case.

Been bouncing around between them and actually just took Lillybug’s suggestion AGAIN and canceled the Silverstone and went with the Corsair 275r Airflow.

Yes, I have been following the Great Case Saga of 2020 … I’m kind of sad it’s over! (assuming you don’t cancel it) :grinning:

Let us know how the case is when you get it setup. With pics please.

I wanted to like the SIlverstone - it just seems like such worse build quality. I feel like my 10lb dog would bump into it and dent it

I thought you liked straight lines - the patterns on the front aren’t going to drive you crazy when the lights are on?

A few things to note. the RF120’s have horrible static pressure and would only use for lower-end systems. I had a 275R at one point and swapped to the meshify c as it was a superior case in every scenario.

cancel button getting worn out by now

And are you talking about the regular 275R or the 275R airflow? they are different

its not my favorite but its flat. The meshify C and phanteks are either sloped or just strange geometry

I can sense your finger hovering from here …

do it, do it, do it (before it’s too late!)

Your ‘perfect case’ is out there somewhere waiting for you.

Get the Corsair 275 airflow. The phanteks fans are loud (well built but loud). Every case I have ever owned I took out the fans that came with the case.

i’ll be using these deepcool RF120s. Hokushin thinks they’re not so great, and the data here backs that up

https://tech4gamers.com/deepcool-cf120-140-rgb-fans-review/

But I might still get them because they’re inexpensive and look pretty.

Good enough reason. If you were chasing every last C temp then it’s a different story. Remember, there are only a handful of fan oems and no brand makes their own. Even Noctua uses a taiwan manufacturer for Noctua designs and they are as proactive a fan brand as there is.

I am an overclocker, but if things go the way i think they will, that is within the next year or two switching over to 4th gen ryzen and big navi, i likely won’t really be overclocking anymore.

At least, that’s what i’m saying today. That’s what I said last time.

You can always get the Noctua gray models for $14. A few dollars more you can get some older Be Quiet silent wing fans.

but do they glow

Put led strips around them
