If I need roll on an item, can I still trade it to another player after?

Been a while since need rolling on anything, and I don’t remember if by needing it, it automatically becomes soulbound.

Raiding with a friend tomorrow, and I want to need on a certain trinket so I can give it to them if I win.

If you’re in the same party/raid, you can give an item away if you won it (doesn’t matter if by need or greed). But, if the item in question is an upgrade for you, the game will not allow you to trade it.

Yeah, you can give it to your buddy.

It still sucks to do that.

Yep, can trade freely.

If you got it from PL, like a dungeon, not if its an ilvl upgrade.

Thanks for the prompt replies!

Don’t listen to this , you participated, you get to roll on what you earnt as much as the dude thats peaked at LFR. Rill need even if you insta trade it to a mate. You killed the boss, you won the loot, you decide where or what to do with it.

That rule has been removed for group loot, it only applies to PL.

I roll need on everything I can and trade it to my friend in LFR.

No other reason I’d ever be in LFR anymore anyway :person_shrugging:

Good job using GL as intended

Looks like we got a real blue falcon over here.

I think the concept of willingly helping people is a novelty to some users here.

Yeah only really an issue for the random level 10 alt posters that make weird high pitch wailing noises.

Might I introduce you to the concept of fairness?

What’s unfair about it? someone is voluntarily giving up their own chance at loot to help someone else.

One person gets the equivalent of two rolls.

And to offset that, one person gets the equivalent of 0.

It’s still 2 rolls for 2 people.

Do as you will, you’re the one who has to live with you.

Except that person never needed the roll so zero is acceptable for them - so its 2 rolls for 1 person

Explain

Because here is how I see things.

Back in the day, when LFR first came out (Dragon Soul in Cata), me and my guild ran LFR to help farm the tier sets. Those of us with tier already still came so we could roll on gear and trade it amongst ourselves. We didn’t bully anyone to giving up gear they won or be kicked and we all participated fully. Yet many consider what we did as unfair because people like me who were geared still rolled need on pieces at least one of my guildies would be equipping despite not needing it personally.

What difference does it make if 10 randos roll on a piece of gear or a guild of 10 of which maybe only 1 or 2 needs the item? You still get your 1 and only 1 roll. By expecting people like me to show up and run the content and yet not be eligible for any drops is unfair on my part. I may not have needed the gear to equip myself, but gearing up my raiders benefitted me indirectly.

It’s no different than groups who stack players of armor/class roles trying to get mythic+ drops. I’ve been on alts plenty where a geared person was there was an undergeared friend and won items and didn’t offer them up to roll…and I’ve been that overgeared one running one of my friends through with 0 intention of giving puggers any drops I got unless my friend didn’t want it.

In the end, what is “fair” is if you got your roll…not expecting other people to give up their rolls for your favor. Yet, as far as I understand it, if I were to do LFR with a fresh toon, I’d be unable to roll on anything which is quite unfair to me.

So what happened to the whole “everyone who was there deserves equal chance at loot” argument?
