If I could have only one change in a new Classic+ game it would be this change to the Honor System:
TBC Honor system where honor is a currency
Honor system implemented from the beginning starting at level 10
Loot added to PvP vendors for all level brackets that can be purchased with honor
10-19 pvp set
20-29 pvp set
30-39 pvp set
40-49 pvp set
50-59 pvp set
60 pvp sets
Now people play the entire game from the beginning and can use their honor earned to replace a weak piece of gear while leveling or just completely focus on PvP as a way to improve your gear.
This one change I think would have the greatest impact on improving the overall Classic experience for all players.
the entire system is different from the PvP grind of classic⌠This allows people to play the game how they see fit at all levels of play and they can still be rewarded for their efforts, either in a hardcore way where you grind pvp for gear the whole way (why shouldnt you be rewarded for this time if you did?) or you can play pvp here and there casually along your journey and you can still be rewarded with replacing a piece of gear here and there on your journey.
as far as level 60 goes youâll notice I said âlevel 60 setsâ meaning you could release new pvp sets at level 60 to coincide with whatever raid release happens as well so there is a path for each route of play, or a mix of both.
Its weird to assume it would be âtoo easy/fast to buy pvp gearâ because nothing was mentioned about the cost of each item in my post because thats something that can be adjusted by the developers to a spot where its rewarding for your time investment, but not the blindly obvious path to go because its so beneficial.
Maybe the leveling sets below level 40 have half of the set as only a green level item, but its something someone would still be willing to buy while leveling.
This change completes the game in my opinion by being beneficial across the entirety of the experience, not the hyper focus on end game gearing like your concerns seem to bring up.
maybe the issue there just comes down to the items being too cheap?
heres a random though on the low level pvp sets:
10-19: 6 piece bonus - players killed that grant honor now grant +25 exp
20-29: 6 piece bonus - players killed that grant honor now grant +50 exp
30-39: 6 piece bonus - players killed that grant honor now grant +75 exp
40-49: 6 piece bonus - players killed that grant honor now grant +100 exp
50-59: 6 piece bonus - players killed that grant honor now grant +125 exp
If it takes comparable time investment to gearing through raiding then I donât see a problem with pvp being a viable path and having honor be a currency over the ridiculous honor grind of classic that is very anti casual player
The only change Iâd like to see is faster respawns on mobs. Or to reduce the bottlenecks in the leveling process. I think the PVP system is fine and should be released in P2. Dont need SOM2
i disagree on the PvP system being fine. it encourages hyper focused play nonstop in one span of time and discourages dipping in and out of PvP as you see fit over the entire course of the game.
Honor as a currency changes this hyper hardcore system to work for everyone
Iâd want to play WoW from 1.0 to 1.12 with features changing on the same timeframe they did originally. A lot of really fun things in WoW donât exist in 1.12. Especially dungeon gear is all MC-level which is really weird.
No. Timing was THE reason SOM failed. All the other things people didnât like werenât enough to kill the idea of a fresh vanilla. The timing alone was about as bad as you could possibly make it. They released SOM during a re-release of a beloved expansion that no one had played since 2007, on top of that it was right on the cusp of Black Temple, one of the most popular raids in the gameâs history. On top of that, it was still relatively soon after vanilla had already concluded, effectively âscratching the itchâ for many people who returned to Classic.
The small changes on the side were nothing compared to timing in the terms of SOMâs downfall.
But yes, a lot of people skipped MC just to grind R14, even though the new system was still brutal for the average player in its easier form.
