If given the choice would you side against the Arbiter and try to reform the shadowlands?

Not saying you have to join the Jailer to do so, but it is an option.

Of course, I have no interest in saving the shadowlands, it just feel’s like another planet. I have no care for these idiotic leaders waging war among themselves.

Yes because I think people should be put with family/other people they like rather than be sorted into Hogwarts houses in the afterlife.

Why change a system that works normally? All it needs is a force to ensure things like the Jailer don’t happen again

Considering the Jailer wants to destroy everything that exists and leave the Shadowlands (with him in charge) as the only power on the cosmic stage…

Like… yeah. The Shadowlands are screwed up. Maldraxxus makes no sense (even if I do like its cast the best), the Archon should have her wings cut off and get spiked into the Maw like a blue football, and the Winter Queen lost all my support after she nearly cast Ysera into oblivion. Even when it’s ā€œworkingā€ the fundamentals of it don’t really work. At all.

But just because the rest of it is (REALLY) flawed doesn’t mean Baldy McNihilism would be a better choice. Imperfection is not an excuse to go join Team Satan…

… Okay yes, fine. The Bastion is SO intolerably screwed up I really, really want to give the Forsworn a complete pass, Maw allegiance and all, but I understand the limits to the narrative and story and understand that the Archon will probably never get what she deserves, same as the Ebon Blade. But those are the most egregious offenders, and they’re not so egregious as to damn all creation to an eternity of suffering.

So… No. No siding with the Jailer - that’s a terrible idea.

I think generally speaking most members of the same race would likely go to the same afterlife given shared values, customs and beliefs.

Literally the only thing I disagree with Devos on was siding with the Jailer.

Basically the intro to the Kyrian Storyline is you getting to escort a soul to the Shadowlands, witnessing his last moments as he protected his town and family from the Scourge. Only for him to be immediately yeeted into the Maw on arrival.

When the Kyrian you’re doing with quest with questions this, their officer basically says ā€œnot our problem where souls go, even if we just witnessed them selflessly sacrifice themselvesā€.

Shadowlands, Bastion especially, is not a healthy realm. If the end result of this expansion is that we’ve merely restored the status quo, I’ll be pretty disappointed.

Not as disappointed as when we kamehameha’d N’zoth though.

Shadowlands sorting seems to be based on personality tho. We see all different races in the different afterlives.

Yes but even personality wise, how different are most members of the same race?

Ingame not IRL, cannot stress that enough lol

Probably not. If Sylvanas didn’t open a hole above ICC, I wouldn’t even be in Shadowlands. Now that we learned there are more work to do after you die, I just want to close that hole, go back to Azeroth and try to stay alive as long as possible.

Shadowlands is messed up, but no, I’m not going to support the jailer.

I’d have to see the system working before making that call. They say there’s infinite islands within the Shadowlands, but these 4 covenants seem to be the lynch pins that hold the system together, or bring some sort of balance to their realm.

Venthyr seem to be painted in a better picture than the Kyrians. They basically torture souls, but they grant them a chance of redemption, rather than just straight eternity in the maw.

Why wouldn’t they be able to have a variety of personalities? I’m sure you could find a lawful good noble person, chaotic evil person, and everything in between for each race.

If the Twisting Nether didn’t exist then I’m sure my night elf DH would go to a different shadowlands house than your nelf druid.

They could, but I’m saying generally a large % of that group would likely go to the same place.

No I’d side with the Arbiter. I think it’s pretty fair, you impartially go to the place that best suits you based on your life and character and continue your own path.

Not all afterlives are difficult or have heavy responsibilities like these four. These covenants are special exceptions, there’s infinite other varieties. Many could just be utopian places of eternal chill, mysterious lands of oddities, or just something you personally would enjoy based on your interests. Drop me in a room with things I like and I’m pretty content.

The Arbiter keeps the Shadowlands organized and not a chaotic madhouse of billions of souls roaming around together. Order is not a bad thing. Perhaps the rules can be a bit tight, maybe there could be a way to petition the Arbiter for another destination or visit people you were close to. But it is there for a reason. If a dangerous soul goes to peaceful place it’s going cause serious trouble. I’m more likely to defend the Arbiter system than revolt against it.

Also that means agreeing with Sylvanas and just…ew. :confounded:

So lets see- we have slavers, the guys that developed the plague that wiped out almost all life in Northrend and northern EK, some fairies that go around disintegrating the souls of some of nature’s greatest heroes like Ursoc, and a species who engages in systemic physical and psychological torture.

And then we have our enemies.

I guess we’re sticking with being morally grey, the type that burns down trees and commits genocide. Might as well give Sylvanas and Arthas a redemption since we’re already siding with worse people.

And before anyone tries to defend this.

Think about if this was being done to real people in the real world- slavery with the excuse ā€˜it is better for them’, wiping memories, constant torture to beat out the personality and will of people.

These being themes in a game is fine- these being themes for the HEROES in a game? That doesn’t make sense.

Yeah, that part is super-weird. I guess they’re all stuck in two-faction thinking: ā€œIf I’m disillusioned with faction A , I must therefore join A’s enemyā€?
