Years later Evoker still should have just been a dragon class. Biggest gripe I hear of evoker is its locked behind Dractyr and how ugly they are. The game play is fantastic just not fun to look at for hours. Quite a shame.
I find it so odd to not play something that you love the playstyle of simply because of how it looks.
This game is like neo geo graphics at best–everything looks awful.
You can’t have a dragon class in a game where you need to see your hitbox/ground effects, anyways.
I drew a stick figure dragon and sticky note it over the center of the screen to cover the dracthyr.
I’ve been playing my Evoker and he’s grown on me quite a lot.
I actually really like their design. Although I will admit I think the head is too narrow and tiny for the body. But other than that I like them
The visage form is what I have the biggest problem with. I personally don’t think it should exist, it just opens the door for people to demand an option to be an anime elf all the time. But that’s me
Cool…
You can, though the game would have to be designed around it. First MMO I ever played had straight up dragons as a playable race (the rest of the player races were humanoid).
That said, I kinda like the Dracthyr as they are too.
I think we can both agree that this would never happen.
We can’t actually. I still play an MMO where one of the playable race choices is a full on dragon. Admittedly it is an old MMO now, but it was still done. I will give you that it is unlikely to happen again, though.
Not all mmos would present the problem that wow would.
In a game so heavily reliant on ground effects (where they also haven’t figured out how to make said effects meaningfully visible on stairs or in water, lol) having a much larger horizontal model footprint vs the center of your hitbox would be an absolute nightmare.
The most they could do, I’d think, would be a transparent after-image similar to how the nelth trinket visual works, but even that has moments of being inconvenient.
Just make them bear druid size but a hair bigger. Maybe mount size. It’s fine
My tinfoil hat theory is that visage exists largely to keep player attention away from the dracthyr’s lack of transmog options, which Blizz surely knew would not be well received.
Personally, I don’t understand wanting to play the dragon-man race and not look like a dragon and I basically never use it.
But that’s just me.
Yeah idk I’m with you here, but to each their own.
I still have chosen identity toggled just for the value in helping to top the group during travel
Hey aren’t you the cute gnome I like flinging around the battlefield? Glad you’re enjoying the dragon train!
Imagine they did not have visage form and they dedicated all the art that went into them to the Dracthyr form? That many more options, including head size and body size since they don’t need to worry about the two gender types? Even if they still didnt allow us to transmog, they could have used those assets to add dozens of armor pieces at the barbershop.
And agreed about never using visage. I don’t mind the model, it’s just not the character I signed up to play.
Visage is there because the lizard forms are ugly
I agree with the no visage form. I thought the idea of a dragon-esque race was cool so I don’t use my visage and besides that (this is just me) its the absolute worst race choice for a visage outside of gnome.
Everyone loves BE/VE’s but I honestly never could stand them. I do want more transmog or even barbershop options for Dracthyr form however. If glyphs ever came along, I sure wouldn’t mind being able to tailor my spells to match a flight type visually either.
That would be amazing!! All I want is to be a dragon not the size of an aspect of course but like more of a dragon
It’s more of personal opinion. I’ve been playing hours on mine and never got “tired” of him or looking at him?
I would not mind though some glyph like when you soar you transform in drake, like sand drake maybe?
Yeah but there is a lot of work out into the visage customization that they could’ve spent making transmogging more feasible probably so I’m not sure if that’s why
