It may be the end of wow as we know it, but it will limp along and become something diffrent
Would be a fun sweep.
Define failure though. Shadowlands - despite its poor reception - was a financial success for Blizzard. It sold 3.7 million copies on launch day.
There’s little ways for Dragonflight to “fail” though. Most of the complaints about BFA, Shadowlands, and Legion were about newly implemented systems.
People hated Azerite Armor, Warfronts, Island Expeditions, etc. in BFA. Peopple hated Torghast, Covenants, etc. in Shadowlands…
Dragonflight doesn’t have anything to complain about outside of Dragonriding, revamped talents, and crafting…
I don’t think Dragonflight will outsell Shadowlands, but it will probably retain players for longer. Blizzard mostly operates on a “drive-by” expansion experience where you get boom sales on expansion launch day and 6 months later half the players leave.
It makes me warm and fuzzy inside thinking about it.

Steve Danuser’s internal conduct might warrant a heart-to-heart.
I don’t think DF will fall, but I do fear that people will moan about having nothing to do, and Blizzard will backpedal and add a borrowed power mid flight. I for one am glad that I can just turn to PvP alts, but there are a lot of people who like to do grind PvE power solo on their main character and these people are going to be out of luck in DF. We will see who’s voice is stronger I guess.
Just clean house because the entire house is rotten.

I feel like a kid again. All giddy on that thought.
I wish I could say what my friends inside have told me here.
Amazed he hasn’t been fired yet for just that. Not like they’d be losing any talent. It isn’t a Cosby situation, but its still pretty bad.
WoW will almost certainly have players until Blizzard decides to shut down the servers. Dragonflight will not kill WoW no matter how bad it is.
I concur that is my fear as well which is why I am going to take a wait and see approach.
They lied about systemlands having all the rental systems at launch and available for testing during beta.

I feel devs are taking bad advice to kill the game before MS takes over out of spite.
It feels rushed to be honest so they can come up with power point presentations for their new bosses to meet a quarter deadline.
IMVHO.

Imagine if they moved their headquarters out of California.
Uh… no, it was actually just half of that. 3,7 million on the first day, which included the pre-orders.
Irvine is full of green lawns while nearby cities have water shortages and near collapse of fresh water supplies.
It is a bad situation all around.

Made that correction.
The end? No, but I imagine it will get ugly. Smaller expansions, more time between them, far more microtransactions, and maybe a f2p option.
If Dragonflight sold half a million pre-orders world wide, it is already a success. It has probably sold more than that.
It won’t be the “end” of WoW, but it will pretty much never have a chance at competing with FFXIV/ESO/etc again. Two bad expansions in a row alienated a lot of people, but three bad expansions in a row? You will have the diehards but good luck attracting new players / bringing back old ones
