If Dracthyr can..why can’t

Demon Hunters fly?? Their wings are basically identical…Illdan could fly…why can’t demon hunters have “Soar” ability…makes total sense to me…would be hella cool too

Because fel is a cursed strength.

It withers and breaks you at the cost of power. The wings are only a malformed mutation that result from it for Demon Hunters.

Illidan’s wings just went on steroids because he consumed the skull of a warlock version of a Lich.

Cause Dracthyr are the new toy they want people to play with.

My fight for viable DH wings begins a new.

DH doesn’t have the wings constantly on their back?
They appear as spectral wings on using Glide.

That’s a really easy fix

Real world answer? Because Blizzard didn’t think of this until recently and way back when they were even more anti flight.

Lore answer? hell I dunno. Maybe the DH wings are kinda reactionary and they don’t fully control them.

DH’s wings aren’t as strong as Illidan’s or Dracthyr’s wings.

Illidan and dracthyr have true wings.

The wings of demon hunters are temporary magical constructs.

Dracthyr can’t fly. Soar is worse than dragonriding. They can basically hop and glide a little farther on a cooldown, but the base drake you unlock less than half an hour into the first area is already better than Soar. As a Dracthyr you will still be spending most of your time on flying mounts.

Granted I will give you that it’s more than Demon Hunters get.

Edit: To be clear, I am not saying dragonriding isn’t flying because I absolutely think it is. I am saying Soar isn’t. Soar is a hobbled version of dragonriding, and is only good for small jumps or flying in circles where there are updrafts. Otherwise if you try to use Soar to get around anywhere you will run into trouble soon as you have to do more than glide to the ground.

Because DH players aren’t in a perpetual Meta form like illidan is.

? I have no problems using it to get around on the beta.

For short distances. If you want to cross multiple zones without starting high up, or go up a mountain it is useless. You can only use Ascent once, and your skills do not recharge. After you use your skills you have to land and wait before you can make another hop. It is less functional than the base drake, because at least with that you can recharge your skills in the air.

If devs want Soar to be a hobbled dragonriding, that is fine, but I would hardly call it the same. Dragonriding you can stay in the air and fly around indefinitely. Soar you are forced to land and wait before you can jump up again.

marginally so, but they did make it so that Dragonriding progression works on Soar, recently.

Yeh, I saw that. I mean with all the upgrades it is as fast as the base drake and only has a 1 or 2 min cooldown, but the fact that it can not regen skills in the air makes it worse. You HAVE to land and wait for another two dashes and a flap, but with the base drake you could just continue in the air and wait for vigor.

why can’t Demon Hunters fly??

Because they sacrificed everything.

Dracthyr can’t fly. They can sort of fly. On a cooldown. But not really. You aren’t getting far with that fancy glide unless you’re on a really high mountain.
