If Demon Hunters Get A Third Spec

Which Hero Talent tree should they lose?

I know I make lots of jokes about RP hating on Demon Hunters because they hunt my people down and stuff, but this time I’m serious.

Each Spec only gets two Hero Specs, and if we add a third spec, than that Spec will need two Hero Specs, but if you add another Hero Spec, it needs to be shared with another Spec, and both Havoc and Vengeance already have two, so one of them has to go in order to open up design room for a new Spec.

So, which one should go?

I say Aldrachi Reaver should go. It has the weaker overall theme.

id make havoc: new dps spec hero talent tree+fel scarred, veng aldrachi+fel scarred, hypothetical 3rd dh spec new tree+aldrachi

I just thought way too hard about this

The redundancy of a 1 button option for DHs…does that mean you have two buttons now on your rotation?

I was thinking maybe Warden as the new spec, given that Wardens have a lot of void-like notes. For example Umbra (Shadow) Glaives, Avatar of Vengeance (void like), blink (void like), Shadow Strike (do I have to say it?).

Mechanically I believe Warden is an easy fit, thematically in an unusual way they fit (captors who helped, ish, then escape).

So then you have:
Vengeance → Warden (perfect, warden’s meta is called Avatar of Vengeance, the fit is awkwardly good lol) and felscarred
Havoc → fel and reaver*
Void → Warden and reaver

*(I feel reaver actually fits decently with Vengeance, but I think Warden and Fel fit better, additionally so if reaver is tweaked to flow better in Havoc and Void. Havoc could also have a talent that makes thrown glaives more like glaivesaws (melee short duration high potency dots), potentially giving reaver an entirely unique style on Havoc compared to Void- which would be more ranged based)

Void can be a ranged DH spec, which can be part of the gameplay changes that make the spec more than another can of paint. Additionally it can be the chance to add the ranged form of Illidan to DH.

Also as an aside I think felscarred as a hero tree can be revamped for better theme, as it is sort of the Illidan tree, but currently does little besides improve meta. Quick thought is maybe the first node you select the primary demon soul / demon artifact (like how Illidan powered up), which has heavy impact on your meta. Gameplay wise, like you could make your meta become ranged variant such that as a havoc when you meta your meta becomes ranged, creating the most Illidan experience (but other options would be valid). Giving the spec a devouring and power at all cost vibe (maybe called devourer), such as a new essence type that drops in addition to the other essence (ripping lots of essence off and encouraged to eat it all, all the time). Empowering your demon abilities, such as meta. Granting mana burn as an upgraded disrupt (ranged and has additional effect). The new essence may even power a two layer transformation system, where you can be in the first meta tier (kaikoen / ss1) for great durations but you expend built up essence to meta tier up and temporarily boost further (beyond… lol).

Void would play a bit trickster like, almost venturing to “what if rogue was a magical ranged class” (Loki like). Warden reducing some frantic / frantic elements for strategic bursts, while reaver void would be chucking Glaives like nobodies business.

i cant tell if you’re trolling or genuinely unaware that they actually do have a 3rd spec already

Felscarred belongs to havoc/veng, it makes the most sense by far, especially if the 3rd spec is not as heavily fel-focused.

Either spec can lose Aldrachi. It’s thematically on-point for vengeance but barely has any supporting spec talents. It’s thematically screwy for havoc and throwing talents exist but they’ve always sucked.

I think they’re implying Aug isn’t a real spec (because it’s had one bad tier where it isn’t godlike)
But I have seen people say this same comment in the past and genuinely mean it lol

That’s the issue with spending time on GD. It gets hard to decipher sarcasm from stupidity.

Eh, it wasn’t “godlike” last season either.

Why can’t the new spec just share the exact same 2 trees?

Im saying Augmentation needs attention

Have you ever heard of the mythical class…Druid?

I would reread what they said.

Aug wasn’t really “God like” during any of it’s tiers. Like it was good, really good to the point where it needed to be reigned in to be sure but it’s always been incredibly reliant on the performance of the other players and if they aren’t good then it doesn’t matter how much up time you have on your buffs.

Druids also obey the rule. Each spec only has two Hero Specs.

Feral gets Manbearcat and Flower Ranger
Guardian gets Manbearcat and Moonwalker
Balance gets Moonwalker and Combat Log
Restoration gets Flower Ranger and Combat Log.

i would have to agree with this 100%.
