If Crafting Itself Were Turned Into a Puzzle

Would that be a good thing or a bad thing?

On the one hand, it’d be more time-consuming to craft things.

On the other hand, it’d help keep the markets from being flooded with high quantities of garbage, and it’d add some immersion.

E.g. when I make something IRL, I don’t press a button unless it’s in a microwave. Instead, I do things to make the thing.

A crafting puzzle of some sorts, from something like a drag-and-drop a blade into a hilt, could be interesting.

If it means I don’t have to farm the mats or buy it from the Ah ,then I would do it.

I enjoy a little game play thats more than “click button get item” but I dont think WoW players have the intellectual fortitude to handle anything more intensive nor do the WoW developers have the skill to implement such a system.

we have gotten the travesty of crafting the past two expansions because this is what they think people mean when they wanted more “engaging” crafting.

Not that WoW needs to steal ideas from FFXIV, but their crafting system actually made me enjoy crafting as a whole.

Interactive for the initial crafts as you have to actually put effort into doing them to actually craft the item in a state that gives you profession EXP. And then, once you’ve gotten your level high enough, you can set it to auto-craft and it’ll make half decent (not max quality on the best stuff, but close) items for you to use.

I wouldn’t hate it tbh, as long as they compensated by lowering mat costs overall, and making mats easier to come by with higher investments.

XIV and GW2 have a crafting system leagues above what wow offers, and GW2 is just “throw a bunch of stuff in a window and see if it creates a recipe”.

Idk what drugs you’re smoking but to me it’s 120% already a puzzle after DF. Most of the time I get lost and just close the window and go do something else.

Can’t find my way around the spreadsheet that they replaced for profession progression.

Honestly the current crafting system just feels like they saw how popular crafting was in FF14 and tried to replicate that, but also tried as hard as they possibly could to not just copy FF14’s system which just wound up making something needlessly complicated and unfun

I’d rather they just copied FF14 crafting if they wanted to make it more involved

they could just have NPC crafters and you just put mats in and get your item without having to know the craft…

solves everything.

Crafting now sucks

Ffxiv had 2 types of mats normal and hq, what we call rank 1 or 3 .

SE removed all high quality items some expansion ago , now u justo have normal items ,more inventory slots !, and balanced crafting around that.

Blizz just want to waste time or bribe ppl to buy tokens , all started with SL legendaries

Crafting was fine , It could use some minigame or some mini talent system not this crap

3 ranks of mats, 5 ranks of crafted, even consumables, and enchants have ranks gez

I really love the crafting system in FF and what you as the player can do to effect the quality if your craft.
