If buying gold was already illegal

…why making the spending illegal would change the RMT equation? will gold buyers stop now that spending is “banned” (banneable?)

Are you gonna say that blizz will be more able to control GDKP than botters and gold sellers?

I think this is a naive approach that will hurt legit players that wanted to have fun.

Also, the value of gold is now decreased.

ps. I never ran a GDKP, but I dont understand this approach to a real problem.

why would making it illegal will make it dissapear? really interested.

do u think they will handle these bans better than bots and RMT?

again, naive approach at its peak

you post gdkp in trade chat/any other chat you will get spam reported and get banned. Same way people get silenced so easily right now.

RMTers will still buy boosts
RMTers will still buy expensive BoEs and epics in the auction house
RMTers will still buy consumables in the auction house
RMTers will still buy summons all the time for 1g each multiple times a day for convenience
RMTers will still buy gold to pay for mounts and epic mounts and other ingame gold sinks such as materials for crafted epics
RMTers will still buy gold to pay for carries that will give them the loot for a set price instead of GDKP bids
RMTers will still buy premade bg carries for rep

The list goes on. I’m perfectly fine with GDKPs being restricted, just trying to think about the bigger picture here. What else can we do to curb botting which generates all the gold players buy for the above and more?

it’s breach of contract. it’s not illegal. 2 diff things. that’s why enforcement is not always a complete deterrent, bc it’s nowhere near on the same level as the penalty for crime

so u r ok if u dont see it happen in chat? ok…

RMTers buy bis not B tier BoEs on the AH.
All form of gear buying in raids will probably get you banned tbh.

cool, sl nothing’s gonna change but ppl cannot do what they want because some others do

cool

I’m saying that is the way it is going to get banned. I don’t care if they stayed or not. I play on the RP server. There aren’t gdkps here.

like botters and RMT are banned right now, right?

Wrong, and there are BiS gear outisde of raid. There are literally greens that sell for 200 gold lol
blue rings that sell for 100g etc. More than what an item would go for in raid.
You couldnt be more wrong brother.

They will be getting banned by being seen in chat. They can probably work in the shadows and be fine.

Sure there are a couple, but there is a limited supply

more like ppl can do what they want if the enforcement isnt enough to deter them from doing it. ur dealing w risk seeking individuals, not the risk averse

some ppl dont mind risking a couple hundred bucks bc thats a paltry sum on their paycheck. when gold prices normalize to good prices, this penalty becomes more visceral.

meaning banning gdkps will temporarily stop rmt but it will eventually creep up again, likely not to the extent it has. there will be a supply flood.

Also you said “even if its not a gdkp people will still get banned”. You are just straight up making up scenarios now. And you couldn’t be more wrong again.

So the only problem we are solving, is the chat spam for GDKPs, which im happy about, its a start, but we need MORE.

Huh? Their main goal of removing gdkps is to remove gear getting bought for gear to eliminate rmt. If you don’t think they will take another step of eliminating gold for gear in a raid setting idk what to tell you. Blizzard isn’t gonna give you “more” because they aren’t paying people to walk around and ban botters. They look at code and look at transactions.

It won’t make it disappear. It will just get rid of most of the popularity.

Everyone knew what he meant. And we will still all call it “Illegal” since its easier.

That’s the point of bannable gdkps
Is to decrease the value of gold to decrease the sales of gold
To reduce the amount of people willing to use RMT
You said it yourself
