If Blizzard treated their players like Square Enix does

I’ve only ever seen them apologize for PR incidents, but never for releasing subpar products/content.

The closest they’ve ever got was the absolute nightmare that the WC3 Reforged release was, and this was their apology:

We want to say we’re sorry to those of you who didn’t have the experience you wanted

They come out in very nnice cosplay gear, Wows comes out looking like a big bowl of fruity pebbles…

Yeah while I was watching it, I loved how the devs sat down, talked about all their decisions they made for each patch. From the writing, to the game systems, to everything else. The fact they do it in cosplay is even better.

It would probably result in the same people raging at their keyboards, not accepting the apology as enough. Kind of like how the forums currently are.

That would be awesome.

Back when Blizzard was still Blizzard they were pretty cool.

The last apology was Metzen apologizing for, recognizing, and explaining the necessity of the TBC-era retcons.

Ion “apologizing” but saying “we’d do it again” is not an apology.

The dev team apologizing for how they handled Blitzchung without naming Blitzchung is not an apology either.

It wouldn’t hurt to at least try, it’s better than nothing. :woman_shrugging:

You guys act like FFXIV is the next coming of jesus and not just another MMO. I mean I like the game but its not much different than every other MMO out there.

This mix of corporate capitalist greed and rockstar syndrome is literally killing western video game developers that were 10 years ago the stars of the entire field.

They’ve literally apologized for messing up on bad content in various expansions.

When something ‘big’ happens that actually messes up the game. They apologize. If you’re expecting them to apologize for small things that players don’t like well… not even Square Enix does that.

The post above yours as a perfect example, I believe they have :stuck_out_tongue:

Apologies without real action are just as empty as Garrisons post-WoD.

They apologized for messing up the game and the continued to create cashgrab sub bait systems instead of quality content.

Congrats, you’re proving my point.

These apologies exist, you not accepting them for whatever jaded reason you have, doesn’t make them non-existant.

Pandemic or not, why can’t we have weekly podcasts/twitch or whatever highlighting interesting things going on?

I’m still waiting on the “better communication” factor

Exactly, apologies mean nothing if you’re not also listening to player feedback and communicating with players/being transparent about how you’re going to fix the issue(s) along with it. Saying you’re sorry after you punch someone and then punching them again only to say sorry again means nothing.

This is an apology for something they had no control over lol

Not apologizing for something they intentionally created as Square Enix/FF14 did.

If I invite you for dinner and there’s a gas leak and dinner is canceled, I apologize but it’s not materially my fault. If I invite you for dinner and you get food poisoning, I apologize and it is my fault.

You go to a furniture store and buy a chair, and later find out it’s not comfortable sitting for long periods of time. Do you…

A. Go to the store and begin a long winded screaming fit telling the store manager how to properly design a chair and impatiently wait for him to build a chair to your specifications.

Or

B. Get a different chair.

Honestly, I would never apologize to these customers. Its basically a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation. The people will never be happy no matter what they do.

Still waiting for that apology for them trying to remove flight in WOD knowing dang well the backlash it would cause.

You’re not disproving my point any dude, why don’t you just stop.

Just stop, take a step back and think.

An apology is an apology. The OP said “What if Blizzard issued apologies like Square Enix.” well they have. The people not accepting those apologies is quite frankly, irrelevant. Those apologies exist. End of story.
