Lets say that blizzard decided to retcon, Illidan only training night elves and blood elves, then had redone a number of the legion quests and their starting zone to include all kinds of races. Demon hunters are also now playable by all races. Would you be happy about this, mixed feelings or very unhappy about it?

I think it’d be better if Blizz just made it so new DH’s could be trained by existing DH’s now, then they’d get a different starting zone, etc… would probably be training grounds or something like that.
That is if they ever opened it up to all races. I think that’ll happen eventually, maybe a long time from now.
Some races just shouldn’t be DHs. Ever.

All races? Well since void and light based races are included, it might be kind of cool to have the same class with different animations/spell names/themes.
TBH, this would probably mess with lore even more than just opening the class up. I just like the idea of a class’s play style with the theme of your choice.
Why retcon? They can just say some NPC from the DH Legion stuff decided to start training new DHs because all the leftover Legion demons are still out there and have to be dealt with. Basically the way they justified everyone being DKs now.

Demon Hunters in general need to die off. The level of mobility they have honestly doesn’t belong in WoW. And as much as I love breaking stuff, my god, they can break SO much stuff, just because of sheer mobility / built in slow fall.
Also, the overly simplified “modern WoW” class design that got baked into Demon Hunters fully, being a class that released in Legion, means it’s just profiecent at literally every situation. Their AoE is also their Single Target, so they’re automatically good at both. Mobility means they can evade damage and kite as needed. Insane leech means they’re tankier than they have any right to be as long as they’re fighting. Even if they’re not literally #1 in everything, they’re still VERY good at everything, to the point where it’d be stupid not to at least have -a- Demon Hunter in your alt roster.

The process to become a DK is very simple; character is rezzed by Bolvar, boom.
The process to become a DH is very risky, difficult, and often kills whoever is trying to become one.

Honestly I wouldn’t care tbh
As long as all race/class restriction is removed, then idc.
But if it is just DH, I would be pretty annoyed (since they will have to spend quite a bit of time creating DH skins/horns etc) whereas other classes do not
Honestly, if you had asked this at the start of Legion, I would have said heck yeah I’m not big on elves.
Now after having tried to level one and just not being able to get into the class, I gotta say I don’t care. I wouldn’t be against it at all and would be happy for those who like the class to have more options. But personally, I don’t really care.
Can’t support this idea. IMO the exclusivity adds to the class rather than takes away from it.

I’d make a Gnome DH for laughs.
My only complaint at that point would be if other classes were still restricted.
I would be unhappy with the retcon because it’s a retcon, and it’s very unnecessary.
However, I would be fine if we got more Demon Hunters because of them deciding to train more, maybe for a new demon-based expansion.
Sure provided it came with EVERY class being open to EVERY race.

The problem with opening Druid and Demon Hunter to more races is they have to create new Shapeshifting forms for each one. Demon Hunters would need 4 new shapeshifting forms alone male and female, 2 for Havoc and 2 for Vengeance.
They’re getting less colorful options for Druid with the last two additions being only one color palette, even so they still need to create a base form cat, bear, moonkin, possibly ground travel, and 2 flight forms as well.
While I’m not happy about the limited selection, but that’s mainly due to the limited customization on both races. Which is being fixed by Shadowlands so…
I think it’s just weird because I’m used to them being only elves. If they were Void Elf & Nightborne DH… sure why not I guess? But every race? Yeah mixed feeling for sure.
