I agree WOW should stop following the NBA’s shamefull polocies of giving the best magic pants to it’s most skilled players. Shame on you blizz
And be rewarded with crap gear? You missed the entire point of this post.
Blizzard should just introduce a single “Raid+”, where every mechanic exists in a raid at its base level, and the raid leader chooses a granular level of difficulty from there, with health and damage of enemies scaling as they do in Mythic+, and rewards scaling as well (up to a cap).
So, what was LFR would now just be the raid at level 0, and the equivalent of current normal/heroic/mythic would be (for example) raid levels 4, 7, and 10, with difficulty continuing to increase from there.
That way the top guilds could keep ramping things up for bragging rights, while everybody else could settle into a difficulty that suits them and progress from there, without Blizzard having to design separate raids, and cut or change mechanics for every encounter.
Pandering to elites has gotten us where we are now. This game should be about the entirety of the community not a section of people.
Guy, you don’t need anymore free gear than is already given out. If this isn’t enough for you get good, make friends or quit.
Not to mention fully upgraded benthic gear is almost heroic item level.
I think it would be pretty boring for anyone that likes to raid (even LFR).
One difficulty means it’s either too easy or too hard for most raiders.
Don’t have a guild to raid with now. If there is one tier, that isn’t going to change and I still won’t enter a raid until I can solo it.
Though one tier probably wouldn’t be raiding at all. If you are good enough for the best gear then you’re already doing mythic raids. If not, then you need to realize that you’re not good enough.
This.
If there is only 1 casual raid difficulty it would be absolute faceroll for any experienced raider.
This would leave raiders with nothing to work towards. We would exhaust the content instantly and be bored for the entire tier.
Definitely a bad idea. The only version of the game that should have 1 raid difficulty going forward is Classic.
I don’t play alts. You get bored playing your main? I get bored doing the same chores I’ve already done on a toon that can’t do them as fast.
It would have to involve a bunch of dynamic tools.
Like first two pulls are Mythic difficulty. If you can win, you get i-X level loot.
After two, you get a stack of Determination. The difficulty goes down a little bit. And the reward is now i-(X-5).
After two of that, you get a stack of Determination. The difficulty goes down substantially. The reward is i-(X-10).
I was going to type the obvious next step, which would be LFR-level, loot would be i-(X-15), but I actually disagree with this step. LFR needs its own separate thing. Not everyone WANTS to raid… IN ANY CAPACITY. They just want to see how the final part of the story unfolds.
THEY PAY FOR THAT, just as much as anyone else. They shouldn’t have to RAID just to see wtf happens in this game. You don’t pay extra/aren’t asked to jump through extra hoops to see the final episode of a seasonal show. This is no different. LFR has its place-- LEAVE IT ALONE.
But for anything else, there is always room to discuss. The only thing I don’t like about my idea is if you know going in to it that your group is undergeared, you have to suffer through quite a few wipes just to get to the “level” you know you need to be at. Otherwise, it’s not all that bad.
So basically just heroic? I’d probably unsub after the first month, though I wouldn’t regret that month. I’m already only sticking around for raids because nothing else is interesting, and that’s about how long it takes at worst for a decent semi-casual guild to AOTC.
Mind you, once the rep grinds are done and we’re into Mythic I play less than most casuals with job/family/kids. I just do it in two scheduled blocks.
Won’t happen. It would kill any interest world first races, and with how well its doing on twitch right now, it would be silly
Those raiders could always try out for real life or actual e-sports? If it’s about beating everybody else and being the best and that’s all that matters to people. Sports brings the absolute worst out of people and you can see what it’s doing to this community.
So can I opt into a version that turns it off at various levels? Because I hate determination.
And if I can turn it off, can I just have my four raid tiers back?
Don’t compare nerds sweating over their keyboards and sports. It isn’t even close.
You haven’t provided a reason on why the game would be better served by by a single raid difficulty.
You’re making the game too easy for a lot of players, and locking out many others.
Convince me that I’ll enjoy the game more because Mythic difficulty doesn’t exist.
I would be more disappointed than upset.
In order to make that change, they would necessarily make raiding utterly trivial for some people that enjoy and play the game on a much deeper level…and that would be an incredible price for the 10% added accessibility for the whole of the community.
At this point, I’d be disappointed in the decision but I wouldn’t really care, given the incentive to raid just doesn’t exist anymore to begin with.
It would be a stupid decision though. Once any single difficulty is developed, the rest is largely just tuning things. They wouldn’t be saving resources to use elsewhere if they did this, not really.
I hope you’re never in a position to make decisions that would affect me.
