Would you be interested? What would you like to see? Any specific universe?
I would be way more disappointed than with any other announcement because I believe it should be clear to them than mmorpgs are a fading genre and that even though they have improved a lot with wow over time, they should realize it’s almost impossible to keep a game this big heading in the right direction at all times.
Willingly choosing to make another game in that genre would hurt wow and demonstrate to me, more importantly, that they would actually be out of touch.
Unlike mobile game and whatever else people discredit them for, there is no evidence that mmorpgs are a rising market they need to double down on.
Make wow the best it can be and focus on making other standard multiplayer games with more and more replayability and competetive features to keep them alive for longer.
Needless to say I would never play any other mmorpg other than wow or older versions of wow.
If Blizz announced a new mmo it would be the death sign of current WoW. I can’t see them being able to run two mmo’s without one taking from the other. The only way I can see it is if they decide to overhaul the current incarnation of WoW with a newer updated WoW 2 continuing off where WoW 1 left. Even then that alone is a daunting task that would be a challenge because some people wouldn’t want to transition from all they’ve accumulated assuming it doesn’t migrate over in some way.
I mean I don’t see Classic as something that will succeed either, it will do okay initially but I imagine the drop off will be pretty hard, pc gamers these days have changed from those back during Vanilla.
The only thing I can see them doing is phasing WoW into a new engine sorta WoW 2 style. People have invested thousands of hours into their accounts at this point, and trying to get them to just ship to another MMO that they have no attachment with would be terrible.
What about the Amazon MMO? Any interest in that from anyone?
Hoping it’s at least worth trying out. Considering such a huge company is even bothering to invest money into a genre of games that isn’t doing so hot in general… They better do it right…
I don’t think MMOs are really a fading genre. I really think MMOs blew up with WoWs success and things are going back to normal. Still a lot of MMO players out there and a few in development now.
And I would absolutely be interested in a new mmo from blizzard…I would have high hopes anyway.
I’ve always kinda wanted to see a Starcraft MMO. Could be a very interesting game.
That or a Diablo mmo. Can’t see it being any worse then vanilla D3 and can’t go lower then Diablo: Immortal.
Ehh … maybe its Just me, but given the history of the Diablo games, I’m sure I’d get bored of an MMO where the final boss in every major expansion was the latest rebirth of Diablo
I like the concept. We’ll see if the execution matches. It’s a tough time for MMOs. It’s always been tougher for MMOs that don’t fit the High Fantasy mold.
I’m actually kind of stunned that they haven’t done a Diablo MMO yet. Seems so obvious. Bad business decision if they opt not to. (And I disagree that MMOs are a dying breed–I just think something new and different needs to rejuvenate the market.)
The reason they haven’t is because it cuts into WoW playerbase. I wouldn’t want to have two active subs for a WoW mmo and a Diablo one. Diablo is better off going back to its roots with following D2, rather then a similar route of D3.
D3 had way to many issues initially. They got it to a good point with RoS expac but it shouldn’t have taken that long.
I barely have time for wow, so I’d probably ignore it unless it offered something more/better than wow currently does.
I wouldn’t mind a Diablo MMO. If they do it should they stick to the classic classes or do a skill based system like FF14? Would it be isometric like Diablo 1-3 or over the shoulder like WoW? Would dungeons be procedural still?
I want Blizzard to continue with the current Warcraft MMO.
I would however love for Blizzard to make a single player Skyrim type game based in the Warcraft universe but in a different time period then the current Warcraft MMO.
There is so much lore to work with I think it would compete well with the Elder Scrolls Series.
At one time, I thought a MMO based in the Starcraft universe would be interesting.
I would be a passenger on the hype train for sure. There are some good changes coming to WoW (thanks to those who opposed ) , but I would kill for a new Blizzard mmo. Their art team is absolutely nuts and with new tech they could make something amazing.
I do not want to see a new MMO only because it would split resources and player base.
BUT if there were to be one, I would love lovw love to see world of starcraft.
Bad mmorpg’s are fading, there are plenty of strong ones out there. WoW has just fallen from where it once was, and for obvious reasons.
I think D4 will have more mmo elements like a main hub and better grouping systems. It’ll probably be like MU Legends. I’d play the hell out of it, but I really want a new open world massive more like WoW.
