If a user you ignore creates a thread…

i’m sure that anduin cinematic feedback you provided was the most critical thread of this year

turns out, most of us here like trolling.

some a little more than others.

Just wanted to give context that someone’s paws aren’t exactly squeaky clean themselves.

Did I even provide feedback on the anduin cinematic?

I can’t recall.

I agree there is a certain amount of illogic about it. If you are ignoring them, why are you still seeing their stuff? It does seem odd.

However, I dont like restricting the ability for people to post if they want to. You can always mute posts if you dont want to see them.

If I could ask for anything, it would be to have a time limit imposed on the life of posts. Other blizzard game forums do it - if there are no comments on a post in 2 months, lock it. The posts can still be linked for those wanting to discuss the ideas in it, but it would stop these weird necro’d posts popping up all the time.

Maybe an unpopular take, but if someone is trying to ‘win’ an argument, I think they already lost. I feel like good arguments let you walk away understanding the other side better, either confirming your own beliefs or changing them after gaining new perspectives. You gain data, you get new things to think about!

Just to clarify, thanks for pointing this out: I absolutely don’t want to change their posting abilities in any way. I think that as much as person X has the right to say something, other people have the right to not hear it if they don’t want to. I just want the new threads not to show up to people who are ignoring the creator only (if they toggle that on in their settings, thanks Nuamooa). I’m pretty good about not clicking if I know the creator is a troll (Yes I know WoW is dead because it has 4k twitch views at 7am blah blah), but I believe that it would be an even better experience for me and possibly others if we had an option not to even see ignored users’ threads on the list!

Or, if you’re a rational adult, they more than likely just annoy you and you’re ignoring them so you don’t have to see their mess all the time. Someone’s emotion has no bearing on whether what they’re saying is right or wrong. It’s either right or it isn’t.

That’s how it used to be. Arguments were to present your own points, ideas, debate them, and walk away with more insight.

Now it’s a battle of who can “dunk” on the other more.

Or you think that “ignoring them” will rattle their cage and further the trolling agenda you were pushing.

I see so much of that these days.

Come on and SLAM!

And welcome to the JAM!

Eh probably some of that too.

I don’t even know how to ignore people on here. lol But I don’t anyway because sometimes it can leaves gaps in a conversation and I don’t know what someone else is talking about.

It usually does in all fairness, nothing makes someone more angry when they are already angry than not being able to get the last word in.

This is what I’m talking about.

This happens on this forum as well.

That would seem to be coming from a perspective that your argument is inherently already won and anyone trying to argue otherwise is inherently wrong for trying to point that out. Basically a Kafka trap.

Like if I was to say “the world is flat” and then I dismissed someone for trying to point out that “the world is spherical” because they were trying to point that out.

That’s also why I don’t do it either. I want to read the full flow and context of a conversation, not have to be inconvenienced to reveal something hidden away.

OP of a thread: “this game is bad lul I can’t get mythic gear quality from world quests wtf”

someone: “care to provide more feedback or are you’re just saying hot air?”

OP: “how dare you say that! /ignore”

90% of the threads of general discussion are like this

It honestly makes me laugh. It lets me know that I’ve gotten so much space in their head, that the only way they could respond is to pull out that old chestnut. Like it’s supposed to matter to me or make me angry.

At least make another pass at me directly.

“Can we all just get along?” :speak_no_evil:

Sadly no. Can’t even rate people in my own transmog thread without some self proclaimed forum police telling me to stop posting. :stuck_out_tongue:
