If a dev doesn't want to play their own game, they have a problem

Generally, when interviewing for a game development position, if you don’t play the game the team is making you don’t get hired unless you’re on some anticillary team (marketing, legal, etc…)

The devs overwhelming play Horde.

If the devs can’t make the alliance interesting and exciting enough that they want to play alliance in any kind of significant number, they are failing as developers.

Full.
Freaking.
Stop.

This is not a complicated concept. You eat your own dog food, and game dev is a passion industry. If the devs don’t care, why should we?

The alliance could never be interesting. It’s like how the Jedi will always be lame and boring while the Sith is way more fun and interesting.

They are the Hero protagonist faction that ultimately prevails in the end only to keep letting the villain go on for reasons. How can it ever be more interesting, they are not allowed to do bad things and when they were almost written to have these darker moments the people cried on here about not wanting to hurt the fox people and it got changed.

A faction that can never be bad and can never have a satisfying victory as a hero because the game mechanics cannot allow one faction to technically win.

Hero characters have been interesting and have been at the core of storytelling for millenia of human history. It is not a failure of the role, it’s a failure of Blizzard’s team.

The Alliance is interesting, in its defense. It’s just a different appeal than the Horde.

This is a good point as well. Society’s values have changed somewhat and more people are interested in themes of self-gratification as opposed to service.

I would kill for more darker moments, let me spear one of those fox kids mom and dad to a wall and take their tails to adorn my gyrocopter.

Hero characters are interesting if they can have a satisfying victory in the end and ultimately they show growth through a Hero’s journey. A faction doesn’t really allow for this to happen not without at least some inner turmoil between people on the faction but the alliance would have to be allowed to get its hands dirty first. And like I said, without that satisfying victory it will be like how MoP ended, capable of taking out the Horde leaders there and now and yet they don’t because the game mechanics will never allow it.

Because we will our lives everyday for the most part doing the right thing so when we get a chance, when a game allows us to partake in aspects of humanity we would never dream of doing we take the opportunity to fulfill that evil fantasy.

Not sure why you had to immediately go to insults when you disagreed with someone. Do you feel better now?

have you ever considered you guys are just unreasonable?

that instead of the devs only playing horde and this showing in their work, ignoring how unprofessional that is

it’s maybe you’re a little too attached to this game? that the type of fans to create this type of conspiracy theory might need to take a step back?

It would make for a more interesting alliance and actually give the Horde a reason to feel as though the Alliance are a threat worth starting the war to begin with.

I wouldn’t mind a more Scarlet Crusade approach to things for the Alliance. People who aren’t afraid to torture and kill people to get their information, I was kind of hoping to get that from Tyrande. Having her go town to town in the barrens and decimating villages.

Regardless of faction, class, race, lore, gameplay, professions, etc etc etc…

Can’t trust a cook who doesn’t eat / sample his own food.

Same with Blizzard. If they don’t have dev’s or other emps playing the game, how can we expect anything to change or to get fixed IN A TIMELY MANNER.

I play both sides, same game, different story, just depends on the involvement in premades or the server or the guild. Cho’gall / auchindoun / Laughing skull is dead

Well the problem with WoW is that a sample really isn’t enough. While I am sure there are plenty of people at Blizz that play WoW, I doubt they all, especially the top people in charge, are playing it the way we are. I mean go through your dailies and regular week stuff 3 months straight and then decide upon whether an concept is good or not.

Additionally when it comes to their writing, they probably think it is clever but that is because they know the whole story and how it is going to end. What they are providing us is basically a 4 hour movie stretched over 2 years of storytelling, it feels unsatisfying for that reason.

Sounds like the devs do play their own game.

For the Empire!

I really am not even for the Empire, mostly just for myself, it is why Sith Inquisitor is the most interesting character to play in SWTOR.

Do we really care anymore?

I play mostly BH, and sniper, but i dont mind a bit of Inquisitor.

Oh look, an alliance player who doesn’t know a thing about the creators of Blizzard… big surprise

Personally I’ve been playing horde since I started. Even through imbalances and things like the alliance getting straight up unfair advantages…
