Ran into two guys from Turalyon who are both raid and do M+16 level in a random Island Expedition (so, they know how to play this game). At the very start I was TOLD to not move off the boat. To sit there why they farm rares. I did not, I got voted off.
Now I’ve seen various threads that “you do what the group wants you to do” - but forcing someone to not play. To just sit there. Is that really supposed to be ok?
I took screenshtos and reported both for harassment. I hope they get a ban and can’t raid or something this week. But really, this is quite an interesting new low. And it’s curious that they can’t find a 3rd to join them instead of systematically abusing other players.

To me that falls in the “until you start paying my sub fees, you can go get bent” category.
If they want to do that sort of thing on the Islands, maybe they should have brought a third player along themselves.
It’s a pain though because vote kicking is necessary but open to abuse like you have illustrated. When I was playing on Sunday night there was an electrical storm here and I was disconnected during an Island Expedition. Vote kicking me would be absolutely fine as my in-game character would be unresponsive and effectively dead weight.
Using vote kicking to gang up on some poor unknown player is pretty repellent behaviour.
EDIT: Incidentally, there is a very nice Gin made in my home town called Quintessence. It’s great with a bit of orange zest in the evenings.

well
they’re idiots, but the reality is, you got voted out of a group by the majority. I doubt anything will come of this ticket.

What’s interesting, though, is that you can’t even use “fun words” without offending someone and getting a ban for not playing the game the way it is intended.
So… is this truly intended way of playing the game? To dictate and force other players to sit there for 15+ minutes doing nothing because you want them to do nothing? I don’t think so, maybe I’m being too hopeful of Bliz to do something about it. They are very concerned about people using two XP pots, but not at all about abusive game behavior and forcing others to not play?

Blizz will not do anything.
In a random group the majority rules.
If the other two did not want you coming off the boat, then they had the majority to enforce it, with a vote kick.
What you had was a “disagreement between players”.
You wanted to get off the boat, they did not want you to. As I said, a disagreement. Blizz will not get involved in disagreements between players.

lol, And you will probably be told it’s not and VtK system is working as intended. They played their way and didn’t want you in their group.
unlikely.
It’s not nice, but not against the rules.

I thought farming rares no longer did anything?

it doesn’t, except in a few cases where you need to kill a specific mob for a quest item

Why are they farming rares ? If they want to carry me, I do have better things to do though so I would have just stayed on the boat.

Wish I had a group like. Woulda gone and made myself something to eat while they had their fun.

Is there any cooldown for when you get vote kicked? If you can queue back in immediately then who cares? It doesn’t take that long to get island expedition groups.
30 minute deserter debuff. I totally wouldn’t have cared w/o the debuff, I was trying to squeeze in my weekly runs to get it over with (I hate IE).
I play the game to actually play the game, I’m simply not going to be told to sit there and do nothing
There is no point to farming rares - even though these guys do mythic raids, they clearly can’t understand patch notes and have been booting people for weeks after its not even a thing anymore. I didn’t say they were smart, just that they are jerks looking to abuse people for kicks.

Were they from Occasional Excellence or Synthesis or maybe Legend? OE people are very rude and Synthesis guys are pretty elitist…and Legend is just Legend.
My favourite VTK came when I was levelling this toon, and a well known Resto Shaman was on his Demon Hunter and he had a healer with him.
We make it to the end of the dungeon, with some colourful language exchanges between him and another group member when suddenly the other group member was VTK’d.
Then I was VTK’d.
Then the third guy.
And he sat in his stream laughing about, solo’d the final boss.
Then he did it to the next group.
And the next.
Some people are just c-bombs.

Yikes Diamante, that’s pretty low for sure - way worse than IE stuff.
I know the answer is to roll multiple toons so that the 30 min debuff isn’t a game-killer, but I got my OCD on and wanted to just finish that toon. SO in the end, it’s a personal issue I have to get over.
That’s a first - these threads of vote kicking usually are the other way around lol … sorry to hear about that OP.
I honestly feel like at this point if Islands are staying the way they are, running them constantly with strangers can go either way and sometimes really just isn’t a fun experience so I think a ‘‘solo’’ queue would of sufficed since it feels like your playing with NPC’s anyways.
I barely touch them but the last one was not long ago and it was with two 120 hunters while I was on my lower lvl Rogue. No one led, no one really did anything specific, it was just a free for all.
I hope Blizzard reconsider their approach and really change Islands to have a solo, explorer mode and a solo kill mobs mode because at the end of the day, the content itself is just not where it could be.

I’m genuinely disappointed I’ve never had issues on IEs. Always simple, non-drama clears, quick few minutes, rinse/repeat. I’d like some drama to spice up the night(s) lol.
I actually had expected and hoped IEs were going to be a slow, exploring type process, where you’d have to collect stuff quickly and avoid the opposite faction, but could also take your time and look around for extra stuff. I didn’t expect it to be a 15 minute race with a toss up of what kind of people you’ll play with. I don’t do them anymore because I mostly find them boring and too fast paced, which is sad because I liked the idea a lot.

Absolutely, the idea they brought in at Blizzcon’s reveal and seeing EXPEDITION made me feel, ‘‘Cool! This can be some nice side content to explore some new islands each time’’ but instead, and it’s probably due to some small anxiety that when I put myself to queue up, I hate the feeling that some random angry fella will be in and give me a hard time. I don’t let it get to me or anything it’s just not a fun experience ‘‘when’’ and ‘‘if’’ it happens.
The whole premise of also going to fight random rares each time makes things on an island really to me doesn’t feel fun for what could be more creatively done slower content for people that want to do other things on Islands.

Why would they want you to just sit there? I don’t get what the benefit to them would be.
