This shadow priest talent is broken. The tentacles that spawn sometimes do not damage or attack the things you are in combat with, they just sit there.
Other times they decide they don’t like the mobs you’re attacking, so they look around the room and choose some new ones to attack. Pulling mobs you’re not in combat with.
Currently this talent can’t be used because it’s so unpredictable and honestly a risk. I ran a dungeon where my void tentacles pulled 3 additional packs of mobs. Got us killed actually.
This needs to be fixed, it’s ruining gameplay

Was just on my Spriest doing a M0 and it was aggroing mobs that we bypassed.
What dungeon were you doing?
I’ve noticed mine seem to bug out the most in Halls of Infusion. That first room where you can go left or right seems to be the worst
That’s exactly where I was. In fact, we wiped right at the start because it decided to pull mobs we skipped
That’s what mine has been doing. If we go right, it shoots mobs across the room and pulls them
I hopped on mine to do Halls and noticed the same thing. We went right and my tentacle pulled the mob on the far left at the start of Halls
Can confirm as of 2minutes ago still a bug. Bricked an easy crest farm +8 HOI because C’thun pulled mobs on the left when we went right. Absolutely Zero chance of accident. After a few deaths we went to the next trash pack also on the right and the tentacles (from Void Torrent + Phantom Reach) somehow pulled the pack on the left that we were definitely 40+ yards away.
Hope this is fixed soon…
Yeah I believe it has something to do with the mobs being in combat with each other, and the tentacles are registering that as combat with us.
I think maybe the tentacle code says “only attack things in combat” but they forgot to mention only things in combat with the priest specifically lol

Has Blizzard acknowledged this bug anywhere?
Currently not usable for anything other than open world content (even that can be rough)
This just happened to me twice today. Once time caused a wipe on a progression key for our group because it pulled a completely unnecessary non-agro add that was walking by in City of Threads that wasn’t even near the group (was up some stairs and not even on screen at the time and I saw the line go out and attack behind me). By “non-agre” I mean it wasn’t even a threat, we’d just walked by it a minute prior.
Now I feel I need to spec out of this end-tree talent as it’s a liability.
I ran a dungeon yesterday with a priest and saw the tentacles pull extra mobs. I thought they fixed this but I guess it’s broken again
