Ideas/Suggestions to help PvP

This is primarily for arena, and also primarily for helping smooth out damage so it isn’t as spiky as it is now, but ideally games remain at a similar pace. Goal being to reduce frustration/stress around the healer role and open up a bit more breathing room in general.

-Reduce the amount of Mortal Strike effects specs have. Realistically only a couple specs should have these if any, namely Arms War and Unholy DK at most. Right now, there are only a few specs in the game that do not have an MS, more specs have it than not which creates a bit of an imbalance between having one and not having one. This would help make healing a bit more consistent across the board, possibly easier to balance as well.

-Prune active DPS defensives across the board, and passive defensives from class and hero trees. Right now it feels like DPS specs have constant defensive answers to damage, leading to tuning having to be spiky and higher on the damage output end for most if not all specs which is not the most engaging gameplay nor the best to learn from. This has gotten much worse post SL as DF added numerous passive defensives in the class trees, and TWW added one or two for every single spec in the game.
This effects more than just PvP as well, as it seems damage is always needing to go up in order to tune around these additional defensives including in m+ (common complaint). I dont think having as many passive defensives as we do is a good thing.

-Fix Healer MMR/CR when going 3-3, this is a longstanding issue. Nobody should be losing CR or MMR for going 3-3, even if you are vsing people lower mmr than you randomly. This happens specifically to healers as sometimes you can get paired with a lower MMR healer to speed up the queue. I’ve had multiple sessions where it was frustrating to climb due to this happening, going 4-2 or 5-1 nets you nothing (in some cases, you lose cr/mmr, and you definitely lose for 3-3) despite the skill gap not even being that large. This absolutely effects healer participation in a negative way.

-PvP talents are still a bit imbalanced in terms of what you have to pick between. For example, some specs (ww) have no defensive options in their pvp talents as all of them are in the class tree or are baseline. This opens up more options for them to pick between as they can go for damage or utility without losing defensiveness. I dont think its great that some specs have to pick between damage, utility or defensives while others get to pick between damage and utility only.
This would only work if the specs that had defensive pvp talents were already as tanky without them, but that is not the case. I think this gets handled if the second point is taken care of though and defensives are pruned a bit.

I am personally having fun in pvp right now, but I do think at some point these issues need to be looked at, especially 1 and 2. The 2nd issue is effecting the game overall and I really think theres just way too much passive stuff going on with defensives now.

So the ones left with it go back to being BiS in all pvp content?

But why? Healers in rss are basically in a 1v1 vs the other healer. Their cr and mmr should depend heavily on their head to head and the overall score. Dps players going 3-3 also lose mmr and in some cases cr. Dps also have 30 min queues to the nigh instant queues of healers.

3-3s stabilize you (up or down).

Winstreaking? 3-3 makes you lose some mmr.

Falling like a rock? 3-3s give you some mmr.

Healer mmr in general a little flatter esp at low-mid mmr because they get dps in placements who do 8k dps and die instantly for 6 rounds in a row

Reduce consistent cleave damage and increase burst damage.

Games shouldn’t be going into deep dampening all the time and cc chains should be rewarding to pull off.

Bring back the set up

Dps very rarely if ever lose for going 3-3, I have played both dps and healer consistently and I have never once experienced it on my dps. Normally I go up or down 1 mmr for 3-3, thats it. On my healer I go down 20-30 mmr sometimes more and usually 10-15 cr if any at all assuming the other healer is lower mmr. There have also been times I gained almost nothing for going 5-1 because the other healer was lower mmr, and that -never- happens to me on dps.

The reason its an issue for healers is because it doesnt equal out like it does for dps. I go up against 3 other dps players in the lobby, so even if 1 is lower it doesnt matter. The healers go up against each other, so if 1 is lower that is heavily punishing for the other healer. And it happens far more often to healers because it is usually done to speed up queues if the game cannot find a healer at your mmr queuing from what I understand.

On top of that, the healer role is the most stressful role by far. I vibe on dps so much more than healer its insane and I also have much more control over how a game goes than I do on my healer. If there is 1 bad dps in the lobby going 0-6, there is really nothing you can do about it as a healer generally, but if that happens to me when I’m playing dps I can sometimes carry that dps to a win and get a 4-2, sometimes even a 5-1. Since you cant really do that as a healer, they both go 3-3 and the higher mmr healer gets punished for no real reason.

Lmao.

Sounds like the usual god complex coddled cope by most healers who think themselves perfect and blame eveeything on their dps partners.

Huh? That is the opposite of blaming things on your dps, thats why its stressful. I mean I play both roles, not very high both around 2400ish mmr right now, and I am always constantly stressed on my healer while usually relaxing on my dps. Its much easier to make game winning players as a dps, and I do just about everything I can to help my healer which leads to me surviving long enough, but that is all within my control. As a healer theres just a lot out of your control in shuffle, thats just how it is. Plenty you can do, but a lot you cant.
