Ideas to free up existing shaman talents

Shaman Class Tree

Ways to free up talent points:

  1. Move “Planes Traveler / Astral Bulwark” into the position of “Astral Shift”, and have each talent grant that version of “Astral Shift” respectively.
  2. Move “Static Charge / Guardian’s Cudgel” into the position of “Capacitor Totem”, and have each talent grant that version of “Capacitor Totem” respectively.
  3. Move “Voodoo Mastery / Enfeeblement” into the position of “Hex”, and have each talent grant that version of “Hex” respectively.
  4. Move “Graceful Spirit / Spiritwalker’s Aegis” into the position of “Spiritwalker’s Grace”, and have each talent grant that version of “Spiritwalker’s Grace” respectively.
  5. Move “Call of the Elements / Creation Core” into the position of “Totemic Recall”, and have each talent grant that version of “Totemic Recall” respectively.
  6. Move “Thundershock” up onto a choice node with “Thunderstorm”, each talent granting that version of “Thunderstorm” respectively.
  7. Bake the effects of “Swirling Currents” into “Healing Stream Totem” baseline.
  8. Bake the effects of “Go with the Flow” into “Spirit Walk / Gust of Wind”.
  9. Remove “Maelstrom Weapon” and “Flurry”, instead making them baseline for Enhancement Shamans.
  10. Reduce all existing/remaining 2-point talent nodes down to 1-point talent nodes.
  11. Remove Ancestral Guidance.

Some alternate ways to free up talent points points:

  1. Rework “Spiritwalker’s Grace” and “Spirit Walk” into a single ability (likely called “Spirit Walk”) which grants immunity to movement impairing effects, enhanced movement speed, and allows the shaman to cast while moving.
  2. Rework “Totemic Recall” and “Totemic Projection” into a single ability (likely called “Totemic Recall”) which performs similarly to “Totemic Projection”, but allows it to retrigger its “on placement” effects when relocating, such as “Liquid Magma Totem” spreading Flame Shock, “Earthgrab Totem” rooting targets (even if that totem had already rooted them before), and so on. Adjust cooldown accordingly.

Elemental Shaman Tree

Ways to free up talent points:

  1. Move “Focused Insight” onto the class tree.
  2. Bake the effects of “Primordial Fury” into “Elemental Fury” (likely rename it “Primordial Fury”).
  3. Move “Refreshing Waters / Primordial Bond” onto the class tree, though they don’t necessarily have to remain as a choice node.
  4. Reduce all 2-point talent nodes down to 1-point talent nodes.

Enhancement Shaman Tree

Ways to free up talent points:

  1. Reduce all 2-point talent nodes down to 1-point talent nodes.
  2. Bake “Molten Assault” directly into “Lava Lash”.
  3. Make “Improved Maelstrom Weapon” baseline.
  4. Make “Raging Maelstrom” baseline.
  5. Move “Elemental Spirits / Alpha Wolf” into the position of “Feral Spirit”, and have each grant that version of “Feral Spirit”.

Restoration Shaman Tree

Ways to free up talent points:

  1. Move “Current Control / Tide Turner” into the position of “Healing Tide Totem”, and have each grant that version of “Healing Tide Totem”.
  2. Move “Resonant Waters / Spirtwalker’s Tidal Totem” into the position of “Mana Tide Totem”, and have each grant that version of “Mana Tide Totem”.
  3. Move “Refreshing Waters” into the class tree.

Why would you want to remove ancestral guidance? That ability is both useful and thematic to shamans. I would like to keep it.

Beyond that you have a lot of good ideas. I do find it annoying to have to spend a point on an ability plus another point or two to make it function properly, so I really like your ideas of putting the choice nodes where the original talent node is and letting people pick the version they want right from the get go.

What is the plan once you free up all these talent points?

For Enhancement they can bake Forceful Winds and Unruly Winds into WF which would free up two talents. Bake Forceful Winds into WF so it is at max stacks. And they can make WF baseline instead of a Talent that is 3 Talents open right there.
