Ideas to fix DH Hero Talents

As we can see now that the expansion is live, our two hero talent trees deal a lot of damage, but at the cost of a terrible playstyle. To fix this, here are my proposals. Please note that my concerns are strictly about playstyle, not damage output:

How to Fix Aldrachi:

Soul generation is completely RNG-based, which means that two perfectly played DHs can have a tremendous difference in damage output solely due to this factor. Another issue is that once a target is marked, you cannot switch targets because your auto-attacks will generate more souls on the marked target. Additionally, you have to use The Hunt to generate your first charge, which means The Hunt doesn’t benefit from your increased damage or the increased damage taken debuff. Here are my proposed solutions:

  • In Demon Form: All souls generated are doubled and collected instantly. During Demon Form, the healing from souls is reduced by 50% to ensure that self-healing output is not overly affected.
  • Eye Beam: Eye Beam should generate a Reaver’s Glaive proc, similar to how The Hunt does.
  • New Ability: Introduce a new short-cooldown ability that trades Fury for 1 soul, possibly at a rate of 10 Fury per soul, with a 3-second cooldown.
  • Wounded Quarry Adjustment: Change the soul-generating component of Wounded Quarry to be a buff on the DH rather than linked to the Reaver’s Mark debuff, making target switching easier while maintaining the same duration.

How to Fix Fel Scarred:

Fel Scarred deals significant AoE damage every 2 minutes or during each Eye Beam, but does very little in between. I would like to reinforce this to create a truly Fire/Demon-oriented spec. Additionally, the fact that only the first empowered ability does extra damage doesn’t feel very rewarding, the same applies to the fact that, outside of Demon Form, you have a passive statistics buff; you want the opposite an extra stats during Meta. Here are my proposed changes:

  • Damage Outside Demon Form: All damage dealt outside of Demon Form is decreased by X%, all fire damage dealt reduces the cooldown of Metamorphosis by X seconds.
  • Damage During Demon Form: All damage dealt while in Demon Form is increased by X%.
  • Empowered Abilities Adjustment: Instead of only the first empowered ability dealing significant extra damage, make it so that each use of an empowered ability deals extra damage. This change would reward players who effectively use Shattered Destiny, for example

Or they could just trim things down so our rotation isn’t complete misery. We need fewer buttons, not more. 6 years ago Havoc was a nice simple class. Now it’s complex for the sake of complexity.

I think a great thing they could do for Fel-Scarred is to make Glaive Tempest its own talent node so we dont have to give up the qol of Chaos Theory to take it, and then make it interact with Burning Blades.

Having Glaive Tempest to use inbetween Demonic windows would be nice.

It’s cool in complexity and not all specs have to be the same. Leave and play another spec.

I would argue havoc is better now than when it was released by a large margin just for me personally.

Yea go play that other dh dps spec

DH was better in BFA. Back then we at least had a straightforward design. Now our rotation is basically just smashing a bunch of arbitrary buttons according to a needlessly complex priority list. A hard reset to the days of stacking crit/vers and getting 300% haste with Furious gaze would be a massive upgrade.

You could say this about all classes.

I think they should change to where all classes have the same number of inputs. For example, all classes have 5 dps buttons, 3 utility buttons, and 2 defensive buttons.

Never understood why you could have BFA 3 button DH that could steam roll every one (and of course talk sh$t doing it like they were superb players or something with those 3 buttons) to things like Shadowlands Affliction Lock that had 6 or 7 dots to manage in addition to other direct damage abilities (literally playing the piano).

Just don’t get how or why they decide one class should manage 15 keys and another class only has to manage 3.

it was “better”

cause people could spam two buttons and not feel bad for performing poorly
