Ideas to extend classic runway without messing with Retail timeline/lore/design/gameplay

What do you guys think of Blizzard squeezing new content in between vanilla and BC / BC and wotlk / wotllk and catacylsm. Not different timeline but just additional lore that happen in between. This can help extend the runway of classic by a few years maybe.

Players will remain at the same level during these “new content” period so that it does not change the retail wow lore.

e.g
Vanilla: lvl 1-60
new endgame content: Stay at lvl 60
BC : lvl 60-70
New endgame content: Stay at lvl 70
Wotlk: lvl 70-80
New endgame content: Stay at lvl 80

This way, blizzard can keep classic fresh with new content but yet maintain the original design/gameplay philosophy of classic. Personally, the gameplay and design beyond Catalysm goes downhill for me but I have not think of a way to circumvent cataclysm content to extend classic’s runway even more.

What do u guys think? Would u love new content in classic? Any more ideas to extend classic??

Thanks

It wouldn’t be classic than would it?

No. Classic ends at 60 and there is no reason to play it other than nostalgia.

It could be an opportunity to go straight to WOD next since it is before BC. Then next WoLK then BC.

Once you get done with classic you can just go to retail and level in TBC.
With the arrival of TBC it’s not classic any more, after all.

Because it’s called classic they can’t release TBC. Like I don’t know, call it Classic-the burning crusade?

If classic continues to succeed, hard to imagine them not keeping that gravy train flowing.

I think you should post over in Classic General Discussion instead of here.

If I was a betting monk,I’d lay money on them getting the ball started on either a bc server like classic now,or the possibility of adding onto what they have.

Classic was advertised as an original version of the game. You don’t think a good chunk of people would be outraged if they went back on that and progressed it?

They can. Just make a BC server and allow 60’s to transfer over.

Nope. No new content.

People wanted Classic. They get what they asked for. No new dev time spent.

I mean I can’t speak for anyone else but for me, I see zero reason or desire to play it further than classic. If they extend to bc or wotlk then I’ll go to live lol. You’re almost like re creating the game at that point, kind of odd no?

Yea exactly why would we as players want devs to spend time churning out content already made beyond classic. Focus on live and fixing that, not churning out more throwbacks

I think most interpreted “classic” as a faithful version to the original. Not a static version of it. Blizz had wiggle room if it had failed but it didn’t.

They already said they are not going to.

It is a static version, of the Drums of War patch. It is never going to change. They already said this. The only “changes” you’ll ever see, are the 4 content phases they mentioned. They were very upfront, about how it is never going to progress beyond Vanilla Drums of War.

IF Classic is a “success”, they may make other Classic expansions/versions. That is what they said. As in, they might make other servers of BC, or something. Classic Vanilla won’t ever change, though.

  1. Hire someone to come up with said ideas.

I think they struck the balance in MoP. I’d like them to go back to that era.

  • Giant new continent.
  • Professions were simi-useful. MoP cooking was the absolute best iteration if secondary profession progression.
  • Catch-up currencies rewarded you for your participation in content.
  • Original lore.
  • Item Upgrades weren’t random procs and players were in absolute control of upgrading their gear.
  • Retained RPG stats on gear.
    • Reforging made gear not feel awful if it wasn’t the piece you were looking for. Stat padding was great in MoP.

BC was Vanilla+. Blizzard shouldn’t expand something that has already been expanded on. Vanilla+ is BC and every expansion following behind.

If Blizz has shown one thing by the advent of Classic it’s that they’re capable of doing anything. Further nostalgic content might be forthcoming. Regardless how stupid an idea I personally think it is.
