Ideas on how to make Warriors more viable?

In M+ we are actually useless. Ive a few ideas how to help us.

  • Lust. Give warriors a lust. It makes sense thematically and we can finally fill the spot for groups taht need a lust. We will also be the first tank class that has a lust.

  • Give warriors an AoE interrupt similar to the prot disrupting shout, but without the taunt.

  • Allow Rallying cry to be actually useful in dungeons by having it give 2x the HP in groups of 5 or less. It is nearly useless in its current state. Or at the very least take it off the GCD!

  • A short ranged cone shaped pull ability. This will be used to group up adds and act as a short interrupt (Imagine darius e from LoL)

  • a group wide spell reflect ability, or allow us to target others with spell reflect. (Perhaps change Intercept to be more viable for dps specs by allowing it to intercept spells which the warrior can then reflect)

  • If the affixes dont change, Incorporeal feels terrible for warriors as none of our abilities can actually fully handle the adds. Perhaps a talent option to change Intimidating Shout to a single target ability with a shorter CD so we can actually be useful on those weeks.

Warrior dmg is in a decent spot. But we offer no reason at all to be brought along in keys.

As a warrior main forever the state warriors have been left to rot in is depressing. Thoughts?

Change the design of m+ and affixes so that requirements aren’t so tight.

Increase group size to 6.

Honestly, Lust would be cool. But so many classes have that already. In my opinion, they should make a 3rd big CD group buff. A buffed Rally Cry. Instead of 10%, make it like 30/40% on a 10 minute CD. Warriors, Demon Hunters, Rogues, Monks, maybe Warlocks, and a mini one for Hunter pet. Possibly even with a small heal.

Completing the big CD conundrum that has plagued WoWs class balance for its life span. The buff for Warriors alone could be something like buffing Intervene to act more like Blessing of Sacrifice, maybe even with a talented heal. Warriors have a solid class tree, and the spec trees are good as well. They really just need some abilities updated. Get rid of slam, add a talent for some kind of cleanse, and please rename the Slayer Hero talents to Blademaster or Gladiator. REALLY hope thats a placeholder name.

Bring back the Necrolord Banner or something similar to that. That’s less lazy and more interesting then dropping us a lust.

As Fury we need a sort of uncapped aoe, relying only on Odyn’s Fury and Dragon’s Roar for big pulls is not fun at all. Our DPS is not god-tier but its ok, we have a fluid rotation, pretty iconic skills, easy to learn but need a decent amount time to master rotation. We also need a better range like rogues or paladins, if we are not melee or away at least 8yards we are a dead class, since our charge and heroic throw doesn’t work if we are too close, but we can attack from an inch away and the lazy hitbox construction from mobs and bosses make it all worse.

We have the survivability now, thanks to a bt focused build and versatility being one of our biggest stats. Its cost to us being forced to use Annihilation, but once you get used to it its fine. Its fun for me to be tanky as dps, to see my healer chilling and not be stressed like when he is in a group with a hunter.

Now we lack utility, our cc’s are talents that need to sacrifice damage to spec on them and it hurts. Even if we get them they both share the same diminish return and their duration is kinda meh. Shockwave being one of the last row talents is a joke. Other than that we have battle shout (why does it have a cd ffs), its amazing for raid but for m+ is kinda meh, we dont have other forms of utility cause even intervene is a lackluster talent lost in our talent tree, no freedom, dispel, lust, bress or anything usefull in a 5-man group. Rallying cry is good cd for raids but thats it, in dungeons sometimes it isnt worth the gcd it needs…

Blizz always have an excuse to balance things, they need a better person/team to balance classes. I remember in legion being a war fury, taking 20% more damage and be one of lowest dps specs thanks to “class fantasy”.

TLDR: we dont need anything unique, just give us some QoL. Warriors are one of the most Iconic classes in this game, it needs more love.

Hard disagree here. Warrior had a solid class tree at the start of the expac before half the specs got tree reworks and changes and warrior has stayed almost exactly the same. It has fallen far behind other classes which have a lot more baseline abilities and easier access to utility without losing throughput.

Simple utility that Warrior had last expac for free like Piercing Howl, Intervene, Berserker Rage, Shatter / Wrecking throw are super hard to get without losing something neccessary or losing significant throughput.

How in the world is Berserker Shout worth 2 whole talent points? Why does this ability exist? Make it a PVP talent because no one else is speccing into it.

Why do I have to drop Rally and Impending Victory if I want to reasonably get Intervene or Shatter? I guess I could just lose more throughput.

This leaves us with Intim Shout which is super unreliable being hard capped at 5 targets, Storm Bolt which could easily be added as a baseline ability, and Shockwave which is in a super unfortunate spot in the tree.

DH just got their AOE stun added as a baseline ability and Darkness got buffed for 5 man content while Rally is left in a really poor state.

Warrior needs additional party utility or it needs to be tuned in such a way that it does ~20% more damage than every other spec.

Their is only really 3 things that blizz can do to really make us more viable.

  1. we have to do more damage then any other class because we lack utility and be uncapped

  2. they give us our banners back so that we have some good group utility

  3. they give us a new ability that works like lust but instead increese damage and healing done instead

Make berserker rage basline, add a line from impending victory to the berserker shout / piercing howl talents, those now take only 1 talent to get. Change one of the affixes on afflicted into a fear. We can now get piercing howl for a good aoe slow, have a way to deal with afflicted with berserker shout if need be or just take the 5% movement boost if either of those aren’t needed.

I’ve always played warrior (protection as main spec) and the truth is I feel that we have no reason to be invited to M+ and if we want to have any utility for the group, we have to sacrifice other talents, which feels quite bad.

There have been many ideas, and many posts have been made about this, but Blizzard still does not understand or help us at all, some of the ideas are here (not all of them are mine) and of course, it doesn’t mean we want all of them, but give us something!!

• New skill Berserker’s command: Bloodlust.
• New skill Assert dominance: The warrior asserts his dominance by letting out a fierce battle cry causing surrounding enemies to lose any enrage effects.
• New skill Living forge (active): The blood of the warrior starts to boil, causing him to heat up, this heating process causes the entire group to receive a dot that increases their damage done up to 10% of their hp for 20 seconds. Once done, warrior gets tired and loses 5% haste for 10 seconds. (This is supposed to reference Kaioken from DBZ visually at least).
• Baseline Demoralizing Shout.
• New Skill Healing wounds: The warrior heals all bleeding effects of his allies within a range of 15 meters.
• Group-wide damage reduction for prot. warriors.
• Change intervene to work on spells, so we can intervene + spell reflect.
• Intimidating shout should be baseline.
• “Pummel” should have 2 charges.
• “Bodyguard” shouldn’t be a PVP talent anymore (like in the past) it should be part of the protection talent tree, warrior protects a party member, redirecting 30% of all of their damage (lasts until cancelled).
• “Rallying Cry” can do more, it should instantly heal all party members (in a similar range than the actual skill) for 10% of the warrior’s total health, also increasing their attack power and max. hp by 10%. then it would be worth the 3 minutes of CD it now has.
• Having a mass spell reflection with a CD of 1 min max.
• Defensive stance should tremendously increase the aggro generated by the warrior when the protection specialization is active.
• An AOE interrupt but without the taunt.
• Reduce the CD of some of our skills, almost all of the best ones have 3 min!!! It’s too much!
• Increase the damage done by all the warrior specs by 10%.
• Spell reflect should last more than 5 seconds, 15 at least giving the skill 10 secs more CD.
• Replace “slam” for another skill that is useful, nobody uses Slam anymore.

That’s it, I’d like to see one of the blizzard staff members giving their opinion about this topic, honestly.

after reading this thread it kinda makes me think i should stick to my dh rather than finish leveling the warrior i made . sad to see warrior is in a useless spot apparently

The big thing is warriors have been in a poor state overall since Warlords in regards to the class as a whole with each spec having different issues that compound things that make it more difficult compared to the rest of the classes in what they have vrs our class as a whole. You can disagree with the the words I have just said but deep down our class has never recovered and still is playing catch up to everyone else.

The funny this is everything that is always said, is what we had in Dragonflight Alpha and Beta, the Utility, different choices, and then poof they removed it all promising to look at it or adding something in to replace it(heroic leap grip, Arms being so viable before everything removed before they said that Arms was completed while they focused on Fury’s Tree just as some examples).

Then the most famous words have ever said in the past, “We don’t work on classes mid-expansion” and yet this whole expansion we saw almost every class got reworks on their whole trees, both class and spec and in some cases more then once. So it should be no surprise we have lagged behind compared to other classes and yet we shouldn’t as a class since the Mop Talent system came into play, our class never was able to have the cake and eat it too.

When the new system came out, every class was now in a similar state to what warriors had felt, expansion after expansion and when they didn’t like it, they got their goodies while keeping everything and loosing nothing in return in their reworks. Now I’m not saying everyone’s ideas are bad but blizzard will never look at our class during an expansion no matter how much feedback we give, no matter how much shine or polish we are given in the Alpha’s and Beta’s but Blizzard needs to start listening to those who pour blood and sweat into the class and play the class because we enjoy it, not just some FOTM player when it’s at its height then goes to next class or players who really have no clue how poor the development of the class really is and say it’s golden.

As I said, all the ideas people have suggested is what we had during the Alpha’s and the Beta’s, it just needs to stop being trimmed away and run it’s course for at least a one season of an expansion.

Warriors will never be S or A tier, primarily because they balance other classes around them. Warrior damage will always be mid tier and they will never have utility. This is the trend I have seen for the past few expansions.

Maybe a shout that acts like a group wide freedom?

Not sure how to work it fantasy-wise into Arms, but a choice node capstone:

  1. Choice one - Monkey grip, your WW gives you and 4 nearby melee (can they do that? or just party/group members) an additional 5 yard reach and 30% cleave on up to 5 targets for the duration of the ww buff

  2. Choice two - your enrage inspires nearby 4 party/group members and increases their attack speed by 15% (or a number that isn’t broken, pulling a number out of my hat just to propose the concept) for 8 sec, once every 3 mins. (Now that I’m sounding out, this is kind of rough, no real way to plan for this one, but I wanted to give a ST option)

Do lower keys then? If M+ is to challenging for you, it means you’re doing content outside of your skill level.

So more people can screw up your M+? No thanks.

Sais the guy complaining that M+ is too hard. You really think adding an extra player in there that can’t do mechanics is going to make the run smoother?
