Idea to bring back Nether Portal

So Nether Portal was one of my favourite abilities in legion, and while it understand it was extremely under powered, I personally feel it was very aesthetically cool ability for warlock to have, and now a days I just get bored of the Imps, so I was thinking, what if we introduced it as an upgraded Hand of Gul’dan? Concept below

Nether Portal

  • Soul Shard Cost - 3 (Replaces Hand of Gul’dan)
  • Cast time - 1.2 sec
  • Tears open a portal to the Nether at your Targets location, dealing damage to all enemies in the Area and leaving behind a Nether Portal for 15 seconds, while this portal persists generating soul shards will spawn a Lesser Demon for 15 seconds, consuming soul shards will summon a Dreadstalker for 12. This ability, and Implosion are replaced while the Nether Portal persists

Nether Bolt

  • Soul Shard Cost - Up to 3 (Replaces Nether portal while Portal persists)
  • Cast time - 1.2 sec
  • Casts a bolt of Chaotic energy for the Twisting Nether damaging all targets around your main target, dealing 50% increased damage per additional soul shard consumed (100% max), additionally consuming 3 soul shards will extend the duration of Nether portal by 3 seconds

Nethercall

  • Soul Shard Cost - 1 (Replaces Implosion while Portal persists)
  • Cooldown - 10 seconds (Reduced by 1 - 3 every time you cast Nether Bolt)
  • Cast time - Instant Cast
  • Empower your Nether Portal to call a Greater Demon for 15 seconds, additionally extends Nether Portal by 3 seconds

Now of course with a new ability we would need to see new/tweaked talents elsewhere, here’s what I would propose

  • Spiteful Reconstitution - When you take Nether Portal, Causes your Greater Demons to expend the last of their energy on expiration to summon 3 Wild Imps
  • Imp Gang Boss - If you take Nether Portal, instead grant a 100% chance to spawn an extra Imp Gang boss on Greater Demon expiration (4 Imps, 3 Wild, 1 Boss)
  • Imp-erator - Now a split tree with the choice additional choice of demonic brutality
  • Power Siphon - Will consume lesser demons instead (Prioritizing them) to generate 100% increased damage Demonic Core’s
  • The Expendables - Now Includes Lesser Demons, Additionally Greater demons grant an additional 5% demon damage for 15 seconds, stacking up to 3 times
  • Pact of the Imp Mother - Additionally Summons a Wild Imp every 3 seconds while a Nether Portal persists
  • Umbral Blaze - Summons a Jailer that persists so long as the portal does, attacking your targets, casting Umbral Flames every 3 seconds (and whenever you consume soul shards) applying Umbral Blaze
  • Vilefiend Boneyard (New End Talent?) - Greater Demons are now replaced with Vilefiends, additionally when you cast Nether Portal, Summon both a Gloomhound and Charhound, they persist as long as the portal does

It was deleted to make way for Diabolist tree. I like the spell as well but it is not easy to balance it. I still remember in DF S1 it was so insanely powerful that my raid brought multiple Augvokers to just babysit one Demo.

I miss Nether portal - it was the ‘one thing’ that made any type of reparation for the great metamorphosis heist.
