There has never been a more meta defining specialization and it will continue to be meta defining until its nerfed too much to be usable or turned into a dps specialization.
Now that we have played with them for over a year i think blizzard should reevaluate the specialization.

With how free the timers are this season, current aug could probably eat another 30% nerf to ebon might and mastery scaling, and still be hard mandatory for top level keys.
What they need to do is remove the defensive value it brings.

Then what’s the point? Imho, it should be banned from m+ until we have a few more support specs.
I’m not saying it should be banned, I’m arguing that it shouldn’t be hard mandatory to bring.
The role is the issue. For what you’d have to do to make it interchangeable with a dps, it would be easier to just make it a dps.
Don’t remove it, I need a DPS spec for evoker that doesn’t feel like absolute torture to play. If it turns into a more traditional DPS spec that plays differently than devastation, then we would have to see, but I would be more agreeable.
In defense of aug it’s a new spec, and a unique spec. It does still need tuning and you can only hope they will eventually tune it right.

Aug wasn’t introduced until 10.1.5. Which was July.

I just checked raider.IO and it is indeed quite sad not seeing an augment not in any of the top 200 or so runs. They quite literally are in every single group. Shame because the rest of M+ seems decently balanced. Not a lot of bad specs this season.
Either way it doesn’t affect me too much I just run whatever I want and play whatever I want.
If they’re unwilling to gut it’s utility yeah, delete it.
Other than that, can be fun to play.
It’s the balance problem that is always going to exist with support as a role in this game. If they tune it for low skill groups, it will be hilariously OP in high skill high coordination settings. If they tune it for those high skill high coordination settings, it will massively underperform in low skill settings (although, in most cases this won’t actually matter as the content is just that easy).
They should delete support specs.

OP I want you to name one…ONE…MMORPG that took out a class or spec and it went over well.
I’ll wait.

Some people just want to be helpful. They’ve turned healing into a sweaty pumper playstyle, so all those people that liked being helpful but didn’t want to stress needed somewhere to go. Instead of backing off on healing difficulty, they created Frankenstein’s monster.
They DO need to delete it, but they also need to turn healing back into the supportive role it used to be.

I fully agree. Support should be a part of a healer playstyle. It’s not the idea of support that I don’t like, but rather creating a “support” class that takes up a DPS slot. If they keep this up eventually it will be 1 tank, 1 healer, 1 support, and 2 DPS which sounds awful.
The only benefit to having a “support” class is so people can get higher DPS numbers for their ego.
Everything a support class does could be added to a healer’s kit, but Blizzard just doesn’t think things through. Like how guardian druid’s swipe is low damage and generates no rage, to the point that it is almost pointless to have it on your bar.
They changed disc in wrath and survive change from range to melee in legion. I can see they turn aug into a tank spec if needed

I found in random groups I do that playing Devastation is so much better. I do way higher dps then I could ever do on Aug

I agree. Remove alliance while you’re at it.
Aug right now is pretty much objectively worse than a regular DPS in terms of actual DPS.
But that doesn’t matter when the utility it brings (namely buffing the Tanks and Healers) is significantly stronger than the gap in damage. And this is at the absolute highest level of play. The design of Aug means that as a force multiplier the spec naturally gets better with a better group and worse with a worse group.
So we’ve got a power gap where at the absolute highest levels of play, when Aug is buffing the absolute best players playing the absolute best specs, it’s literally mandatory. But anywhere else, it’s basically F Tier.
This design is not sustainable. A spec that is mandatory at the literal peak of gameplay but largely worthless outside that is terrible design.
The problem with Support in WoW is that everything a Support would traditionally do in WoW is already done by the other three roles, our just outright cannot exist except for one thing. Force multiplication.
Force multipliers that exist in every game and they’ve been a balancing nightmare in every instance.
