I’ve never played classic I started my WoW career back in Wrath at the end of 2009 and I’m looking forward to Classic. My 1st toon back then was a Rogue and my second toon and still my main to this day is a Mage. So I’m not sure what class to go with. I plan on doing PvP and PvE content just not sure which class of the two would be a solid choice. I know play what you like but I like both classes and will have more than one toon but I’m older now and most likely can only put in enough time and effort into one ie rep grinds, raids ect. I like a Mage for portals (easy travel) but stealth on a Rogue is awesome for getting around. So for those of you that may know how these classes were back then which one would make a solid choice as a main for getting into raids and do some PvP. Not looking for a OP class just one that can hold it’s own in a raid environment and in PvP not have someone sneeze at me and I fall over. Thanks
Honestly, either of those are good. Mage raid rotation is a bit boring to me though.
Every class can do well in raids, but it depends on what you want to do.
For Paladin, Druid, Shaman, and Priest their strongest raid role is healing. It’s not impossible to go outside of those roles, but you will face some resistance to that idea and you wont pull DPS numbers like a pure DPS or Warrior.
In PvP their damage builds have more freedom since their biggest issue is typically longevity rather than actual damage output.
Rogue, Warrior, and Mage are the best at topping meters. Warlock does a bit less damage but has more utility, and Hunter does less damage than that but has kiting and tranq shot(plus are really good in PvP if played well).
If you at all want to tank, Warrior is a good choice plus they can be a top tier DPS with Fury and do well in PvP with Arms. That said, they’ve very gear dependent and can be one of the harsher classes to level.
Rogue and Mage are both solid choices in Vanilla.
If you’re already familiar with the classes you’ll recognize a ton and get up to speed quick. Talent trees will take some getting used to but I am betting you will enjoy the added freedom of being able to create your own spec.
Read up a bit on the different specs that were popular for those classes and you’ll be all good.
Rogue and Mage were both mainstream and good at everything in Vanilla.
Can’t really go wrong with a Rogue or Mage if you are considering those.
Both are good in PVE and PVP. Both are good for farming too, which will be a big part of Classic.
Rogue and mage were really op back then but me i want to play my old 2hd enhancement shaman once again.
If you go mage, you can sleep through most of MC casting frost bolt. Who doesn’t like taking a nap?
Was it that bad back then? 1 button spec bad like wrath arcane or just too simple?
Yeah I miss the talent tree system I assume it’s similar or the same as it was in Wrath
Pretty much.
Frost bolt, frost bolt, frost bolt… snore…
Its funny im looking forward to easy rotations like this. Going lock cant wait to shadowbolt spam.
I think this is why I loved hunter. You had a lot of shot weaving, could go rapid fire, watch threat for FD, manage pet in and out, kiting/pulling, etc… I always felt busy as a hunter.
All classes will have their own unique charm. Just remember classic is Static. So you can have all 8 (9) if you want!!
LOL that’s why i don’t wanna play a hunter. But that’s the beauty of classic something for everyone.
Ohhh you WANT to be lazy? Well, someone has to do it!
Hell ya I do LOL
Orc Resto Shaman with my eye on a Spinal Reaper to create Big Axe Windfury Crits with my Warrior brethren!
I’d have to give mage the edge overall, simply for farming potential and “safer” raid positioning.
Farming potential is not to be understated. Mages poop gold lol. The biggest thing I learned from “unofficial” servers was the importance of gold making at 60…
Poop gold? Lmao
