Idea: Gnomeregan Terminal

I’m working on this fun little fan expansion where they do a world revamp, and I’m thinking of different modes of transportation.

For one, I should mention that flying is achievable upon the launch of the expansion, and you just need to do a questline where you actually learn how to fly (kinda like cloud serpents?)!

Anyways, here’s my idea for Gnomeregan Terminal.

While it isn’t a capital city, Gnomeregan is now a neutral terminal that juts out of a mountain on the coast of the Eastern Kingdoms in Dun Morogh. This terminal can take players to a multitude of places. The terminal has updated graphics, and the carts even wave around. Also, each gate will have a holographic symbol of its destination so players know where they need to go.

  1. Location - Stormwind City: The Stormwind City gate can only be entered by Alliance players, and it takes players from Gnomeregan to Stormwind City (or visa versa).
  2. Location - Silvermoon City: The Silvermoon City gate can only be entered by Horde players, and it takes players from Gnomeregan to Silvermoon City (or visa versa).
  3. Location - Vashj’ir: The Vashj’ir gate is open to all, and will take players from Gnomeregan to a station jutting out of the now-risen Vashj’ir. This ride may be taken by several just because of the oceanic views that await.
  4. Location - Underforge: Underforge is one of the expansion’s new zones, and its gate is open to all. It takes players from Gnomeregan to a station in Underforge. Other than the use of a Hearthstone, this is the only way to get to Underforge. Many will see runic carvings made out of magma, lavafalls, and eruptions on this unstable journey.
  5. Location - Uldorus: Uldorus, the main max-level zone of the new expansion, can be accessed by a much older gate that has recently appeared upon Uldorus’ emergence. This ride has loads of titanic ruins to see.
  6. Location - Gnomeregan Terminal Operation Center [G.T.O.C.]: The G.T.O.C. gate can be accessed by all players, and takes players to the G.T.O.C. dungeon.

Why would the gnome capital city become a neutral train station for Horde use?

I really like this idea. Just imagine a huge Mechagon-like train terminal with Alliance and Horde players standing or running around, and different places to always be able to go to.

It’s a cool idea but I feel like a lot of Alliance players would not be thrilled with Gnomer finally being rebuilt only to have it be a neutral hub.

It hasn’t been used as a capital city (canonically) for a long time, and is still considered a war zone, with elementals attacking it to this day.

I mean, that’s a fair point, but it wasn’t even a capital whatsoever (just a dungeon for both to experience). And it wouldn’t be all of Gnomeregan. Just a big terminal looking out to the ocean.

So because Blizzard hates gnomes, you want them to delete the gnome capital and give it the “neutral” treatment that anything good the Alliance has is always given.

No thanks. Hard pass. Gnomeregan for the Gnomes.

I mean, I’d come up with a Horde equivalent for the Echo Isles, most likely. Beyond that, though, this is mostly because the threat I’m planning for this expansion brings us together like never before. While there’s still factions, we’d see a lot of each other more often, with our capitals and maybe a couple of zones being the only one-faction-only zones.

EDIT: Also, the Horde helped the Mechagnomes, too. While part of the Alliance, I don’t want to have them pull a Thalyssra. It’s a terminal, not an entire capital. Odds are, I’d even make a capital area just for Alliance players.
