The beast mastery rune has been a controversial rune since the start of sod. Clearly, the devs aren’t fond of it as they’ve nerfed it to the ground now. Having flat damage percent added to pets does fit the BM fantasy, but I do think it’s not the best design. It’s understandable that both players and devs don’t like the rune because with it’s current design, it is impossible to satisfy everyone. Even if a perfectly balanced percentage was achieved with the rune, there’ll still be people who think it’s underpowered, and people who will think it’s overpowered.
Beast Mastery hunters have an issue right now where outside of damage, they bring nothing to a group in pve, and very little to a group for pvp.
My suggestion for the rune is this: Have the beast mastery rune stay at only 10% damage, but also provide a raid-wide buff ONLY while bestial wrath is active.
This would give BM hunter great, temporary, burst utility for any group, and the devs won’t need to worry anymore about hunters doing the best pve damage. Keeping the buff uptime strictly to bestial wrath time would also help with pvp as there would be only a small window of time that an opposing team needs to survive through the buff with defensives and big heals. I think this would be a happy medium for the rune overall, and would further support the overall class/spec identity of the Beast Mastery hunter.
