basically engineers with guns.
Thanks. If the guns won’t look like stupid hunter guns, I would give it a try. Also, as long as they aren’t mecha since we already have those.
However, I would love it to belong to the gnomes if they do make tinkers. The gnomes need some love and care in an expansion for a change.
i mean they’d have gadgets too.
but its still the engineers profession.
I’ll say it right now (not that I matter), if we get a new class and it’s not Tinkers, I won’t play the next expansion. Other than BFA, that gave me loads of AR to unlock, I’ve barely touched any expansion since MoP, which is my favorite of all time.
In WarCraft 3, ( Which wow is obviously based on)
The Tinker could attack from a Range with Missiles and “Pocket Factories” (which are functionally instant build turets)
OR: The Tinker could suit up in a very tanky Mech suit and fight up close, with a lot of Armor.
A lot of people also suggest tinkers should be able to heal using Healbots and Healing grenades, but this wasn’t a part of the Original WC3 Tinker.
Blizzard also designed some Tinker NPCs in BFA, And the Had a Ranged DPS spec, a Ranged Healer spec, and Melee Tank spec in a Shredder suit
Thread Bump!
Give it up for another day closer to April 19th!
Maybe one day We’ll be able to play a Goblin or Gnome without feeling like we’re just missing their most thematic class.
Given the history of the existence of the class in WCIII, preexisting assets we have in-game, and seeing the idea of such a class executed in other games, I can see us having the room for a “tinker” class, though I’d change the title to “Technician” or “Mechanic”. I actually always wanted a class with a spec in this game that dual-wielded guns or some big cannon with different style projectiles, that mechanically plays differently from a hunter (I played MMOs where archers and gunners were different enough to coexist).
I never understood other players’ obsession comparing a combat class to a crafting profession. I just went thru the entire engineering recipe list and barely see anything it “steals” from; you can craft gear, pets, enchants, toys, utilities of convenience… things that would complement a class, not steal from it. Nothing that would actually replace your DPS rotation, lol.
Though, this doesn’t mean I’m closed off from any other class ideas. I’m willing to see anything new as long as it can be made different enough from what we have already.
Yes please.
“Mechanic” is a great term.
You aren’t just a hero because you use machines.
You’re a hero because you can rebuild and repair them when they break. You have the Mechanical Know-How.
So “mechanic” gets the class fantasy across in one simple word.
The idea of being a Goblin that dual wields pistols and fire’s missile at enemies is simply too good to be true.
I wish.
This is a tired rebuttal, The game will always need more to keep its player base into the positive. Saying they need to try and balance current classes before adding is silly, with each passing expansion you are going to have to bring some spice…
Yesterday trying to make a goblin healer and not feeling like the options available really fit
I feel you, I cant convince myself to make a gnome at all, none of their classes feel right to me.
I agree 100%.
New Expansions are a mountain of free marketing bait for a new expansion.
If Blizzard tried to market an expansion by saying “We Balanced the game!” it certainly wouldn’t sell.
Tinkers are also Warcraft to the very bone. We have racial leaders who are Tinkers, and a Tinker was actually a Warcraft hero. Goblin, Gnome, and Mechagnome players start in zones that are full of technology, robots, and machines. No race in WoW starts in a zone full of dragons.
Also I would argue that a Tinker class would bring in more players than some generic dragon knight. We have plenty of magic-based classes in WoW. We have zero technology classes, and multiple races that are technology-based and have no where to go class-wise.
See Siegecrafter Blackfuse (SoO), Iron Reaver (HFC), Gelbin Mekkatorque (BoD), Monte Gazlowe (Island Expeditions/HotS/WC3:R), Jastor Gallywix (BoD, Gob starter zone), Sicco Thermaplugg (Gnomeregan), King Mechagon (Mechagon), etc.
I find it hard to believe that you’ve never seen a Tinker in WoW.
This leads me to a good point
In a lot of these threads, we keep talking about the “Goblin Tinker” hero, usually referring to the Hero from Multiplayer.
But in the Actual Campaign of WarCraft 3, the Tinker you encounter is Gazlowe.
Yes. That Gazlowe, who built our Garrison in WOD and is currently the racial leader for the goblins.
One of our Racial Leaders in WoW is the Iconic representation of a class that we can’t play? This is madness!
Patience Liianas. I have a feeling that 10.0 is going to pick up where BFA left off. WoW needs a new class, and with Dark Rangers and Necromancers off the table, there’s only one option left.
im the opposite, when I see someone adamantly want them it makes me want them not to be the class even more. perhaps even poke a bit of fun on the 17th if it turns out tinker is not the class because i’m annoyed at them lol.
I mean, while I think they are likely, I will wait to see until April 19th
It’s only natural.
I mean, it’s the most basic instinctual reaction someone can have to a stimulus.
If you see something in your feed constantly, you’ll get tired of seeing the same thing. But I guess it goes to show how much this idea has permeated the community.
But, if they do announce Tinkers next, then you’ll never see another thread asking for them!
Personally I would love a dragon class. I would like to see wow go back to the aspects, and their stories.
That was my very favorite.
Maybe we could get some new amazing real looking dragon mounts including pure black ones like they did with the black cloud serpents. Not those boxjaw looking awful things they had in a previous expansion.
When I think of Wow, I always think of dragons, and love to fly mine.
I think WoW could do amazing things with a dragon class, just amazing.
The problem is that there’s no history of a dragon class in Warcraft.
The previous expansion classes were known before they entered the game, and even had heroes associated with them. We don’t have that for a dragon class.
There IS a possibility that we could get a dragon class where the player is actually a dragon, and our racial forms are dragons in humanoid form. Think Alexstraza in HotS. However, that scenario is unlikely, because I don’t see Blizzard allowing us to go that route.
There was a perfect opportunity to add tinkers in BFA. We had just ended legion where we had Draenei technology suits and spaceships, a new faction war, and then mechagnome island.
It’s hard to tell if the new area ZM showcasing robots is a sign that Tinkers are the next class. I almost feel like the melody emphasis could be blizzards way of doing both bard and tinker in one class. Lol you might get robot bards.
