Cata is ancient history that the world is stuck in, Classic is indeed a disjointed mess.

What we actually need is a third quest phase for the classic zones but yikes that amount of work.

they will update the old world bit by bit now. No more full world like in Cata cuz it costs us ONE raid tier. next hold Quel’thalas and Northrend.

Whatever rezoning they do would certainly become the new questing default for years to come. It just has to be properly future-proofed like Cata wasn’t.

Cataclysm had (has) some of the funniest, and most varied quests in the game.

It would be nice to retain those while undoing some of the unnecessary damage.

You do realize this also means you can’t fly in the old world. Part of the change with Cataclysm was making all the original zones flyable.

Oh, I got your point, but I doubt Blizzard will indulge you. They’re at the point where they’re trying to do the barest minimum amount of work to please their corporate overlords and maximize their shareholder’s profits. Going to be too much work to do as you ask. That’s the reality. You can idealize as much as you want through your rose-colored glasses, but that doesn’t change the fact that Blizzard isn’t running the show anymore.

It just that the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor were not originally built with flight in mind. A lot of the zone textures and features would just disappear if looked at from the right angle.

You can get a sense for it in SW in classic. You’re able to jump onto a torch and fall under the city’s map. There’s just nothing there, you can’t even see the buildings above you.

Yep. Thousand Needles had to be flooded so that flying could exist.

who wished the old world had not been undone/mangled
by the nonsense of cataclysm.
i feel so…isolated…now…thanks a lot!

No, I’m giving you a dose of reality. I wish we could go back to the way that Wrath played, but we can’t. That’s just the way it is.

I wish they’d update each zone with minor differences every expansion. It’d have been cool to see the world getting rebuilt with Zidormi there to show you the zone as it existed at different points.

If you’re confusing my being straightforward with being cruel, I’m sorry. As I said, I agree with you on some level (I much preferred Wrath), but the way that Blizzard is now, what you and I both want won’t happen. It’s sad but true. Queue some guy named Lars.
