As a player who does not use an addon of any type. I love how the game has evolved to add things into the game, that do the tasks of addons.
BUT one I think we REALLY need, is alerts. You know like “GET OUT OF THE WAY” “DON’T STAND THERE” - some sort of alerts to things like standing in bad. Players said during April Fools one of their addon was doing Brann’s voice during raid. Why can this just not be a feature? Optional feature you could disable if you want, but it could even tell you things like to soak a certain mechanic since sometimes people with circles run away with something you need to split damage with, or it’s hard to know what circles you dodge or what you have to stand in.
I just think a companion NPC would be helpful in dungeons and raids as a personal alert assist
I’d be fine with it, but do you not use add-ons because you don’t know how to set them up? I could help you, it’s not the most obvious process but it’s a good way to improve your gameplay, or at least play at the same level but make it much easier to see and know what’s happening.
I personally would prefer blizz spend development resources on making new content rather than re-doing what add-ons already do, but worse. If anything they should just make curse forge or an addon browser available in-game.
currently curseforge provides financial incentive in the form of ad revenue to addon creators to use their platform, so i think an actual ingame curseforge thing wouldn’t fly
