Looking for help with a macro - dont know if its possible?
I want a macro to cast icy veins if its up, but not if its already active on you
Can’t make conditional macros. Best you can do is make a weak aura that shows when IV is active somewhere visible.

Unless you’re running Slick Ice, in most cases you’d want to clip it even if it’s already up, because the new IV will drop a RoP for you.
You’d only avoid the clip if pack is about to die, intermission incoming, etc.
Impossible to do by macro regardless, but just thought I’d point that out

Highly recommend. Macros can be useful but learning to utilize WeakAuras can open a whole new world for you. There’s a reason World First guilds rely on them so much.
I’d recommend starting with one of the spec WA packs that shows all cooldowns (offensive and defensive) near your character. Most include timings overlaid on them to indicate their CD, when they’re expiring if they’re active, and stacks (for things like Fire Blast, less relevant here though)… A lot better than having to look down at your spell bar or top right for your buffs, since your eyes can stay near your character during combat.

I always found it weird that to play this game reasonably well, you need like at least 8-10 addons…
You can play fine without AddOns, but they definitely help take a lot of cognitive load off the player to enable them to focus on what’s really important at any particular time. They also can make things more consistent to reduce user error.
It’s like Blizzard send you into a construction site with just a hammer and screwdriver. AddOns can provide a helmet, work boots, a full toolbox, and power tools.
Which make certain things possible that a hammer and screwdriver just don’t. I think the default Blizz UI/setup caters to the most casual players ever. Anyone who’s even slightly semi-serious about whatever they do in WoW, even if all they do is make AH gold, needs addons to get the job done.
